Position Summary The Division of Pediatric Anesthesiology at UNC Hospitals delivers more than 12,000 anesthetics per year, providing care to children across North Carolina and beyond. The physician will be responsible for peri‑operative care of patients undergoing cardiac surgery, ECMO, and other complex procedures, and will contribute to faculty teaching in the Pediatric Anesthesiology Fellowship program.

Responsibilities

Provide anesthesia for pediatric cardiac procedures, including intra‑operative management of patients and postoperative care.

Participate in multidisciplinary care teams in the Pediatric ICU, Cardiac ICU, and the wider cardiac surgery program.

Teach and supervise graduate‑level learners (interns, residents, fellows), fostering clinical education and research.

Collaborate with CRNAs, perfusionists, and other clinical staff to ensure patient safety and quality outcomes.

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements

Medical degree (MD, DO, or equivalent).

Completed an ACGME accredited Anesthesiology Residency and Pediatric Anesthesia Fellowship (by start date).

Board certified or eligible in anesthesia (ABA).

Eligible for licensure in North Carolina.

Experience or training in congenital cardiac anesthesia.

Preferred Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience

Academic experience teaching graduate‑level learners.

Experience working with CRNAs and in interdisciplinary teams.

Demonstrated commitment to patient care, resident and fellow education, and academic scholarship.
