POSITION OVERVIEW The successful candidate will have a strong technical background experienced in designing and deploying data centers, LAN, WAN, firewall & VPN solutions across a global infrastructure and have a proven track record of driving technology solutions and improvements.

Role location:

Maryland (onsite 5 days per week)

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Project Engineering Support:

Provide project management and engineering support for infrastructure projects from inception through planning, design, implementation, and operational phase.

Ensure implemented solution meets project deliverables and adheres to standards and best practices.

Network Architecture and Design:

Design, plan, and implement complex network infrastructures that support enterprise‑scale IT operations.

Develop detailed network architecture diagrams, technical documentation, and implementation strategies.

Lead the design of data center networks, LAN/WAN environments, wireless systems, and security solutions.

Design high‑availability solutions, ensuring failover mechanisms and disaster recovery planning.

Develop high‑performance networking solutions tailored for GPU‑based compute clusters, AI workloads and HPC environments.

Recommend and implement network standards to support the enterprise network infrastructure.

Implementation and Integration:

Oversee the deployment of network infrastructure, ensuring integration with existing systems.

Lead network configuration, testing, and troubleshooting across multiple sites.

Work closely with vendors and third‑party service providers to ensure optimal hardware and software solutions.

Network Security:

Implement and maintain network security strategies, including firewalls, VPNs, and intrusion detection systems.

Ensure compliance with security protocols, best practices, NIST and STIG requirements.

Evaluate and mitigate network vulnerabilities by implementing advanced security measures.

Network Automation:

Design, develop, and implement automation workflows using tools such as Ansible, Python, etc. to streamline network operations.

Implement network security policies to safeguard network data and infrastructure.

Optimization and Performance Management:

Monitor and analyze network performance, identifying bottlenecks and areas for improvement.

Optimize network infrastructure for low‑latency, high‑throughput requirements, especially for AI and ML workloads.

Implement network optimization techniques, including traffic shaping, load balancing, and QoS (Quality of Service) policies.

Conduct performance tuning, network monitoring, and troubleshooting to ensure high‑speed data transfers and minimal latency across clusters.

Conduct routine capacity planning and recommend network infrastructure enhancements.

Schedule and perform periodic maintenance to run systems on the latest stable code.

Collaboration and Stakeholder Management:

Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to ensure network infrastructure supports mission applications.

Provide expert guidance and support for network‑related issues.

Communicate complex technical details to non‑technical stakeholders.

Participate in strategic planning and advise on network capacity, scalability, and emerging technologies.

Mentorship and Leadership:

Serve as a technical leader and mentor to junior network engineers.

Deliver training sessions on related technologies and best practices.

Lead technical teams in large‑scale projects, ensuring timely completion and adherence to best practices.

Research and Development:

Stay up to date on emerging trends in network architectures.

Evaluate new technologies and products to improve service availability and reduce cost.

Participate in continuous learning and certification programs (e.g., Cisco, Juniper, NVIDIA).

QUALIFICATIONS

Must be cleared at TS/SCI Full‑Scope poly level.

Certifications (minimum one): CCNA, CCNP, CCIE, CCDP, JNCIS‑ENT, JNCIS‑SP, JNCIS‑DevOps, RCNI, ECP.

Ability to lead complex, large‑scale network projects from initiation to closing.

10 years combined experience with networking, firewalls, security, standards, and design life cycle.

In‑depth experience with L3 protocols (MPLS VPN, BGP, OSPF, QoS, DNS/DHCP, firewalls, multicast) and L2 protocols (spanning tree, RSTP, MSTP, IGMP, 802.1x) and data center technologies (SDN, NFV, HCI, intent‑based networking).

Experience with load‑balancing and application delivery controllers (F5, Cisco, Citrix).

Experience with software‑defined networking, AI, ML, automation (Ansible, Python, Puppet).

Design and deployment experience with Cisco/Brocade/Juniper/NVIDIA routing and switching products, and firewall experience (Cisco Firepower, Palo Alto).

Experience with network management platforms and protocols such as SNMP, sFlow, Netconf.

Strong technical leadership, teamwork, and communication skills.

Occasional domestic and international travel may be necessary.
