The Clinical Research Coordinator (CRC) will join the GI Division and will coordinate clinical research studies related to liver disease and liver transplantation. The CRC will execute, manage, and coordinate research protocols as directed by the Principal Investigators (PIs). The CRC may coordinate the data collection and operations for multiple concurrent clinical research studies under the guidelines of UCSF and regulatory agency policies. The CRC will work with two Principal Investigators in the GI Division—Dr. Bilal Hameed and Dr. Bruce Wang—on separate research studies. Responsibilities include managing multiple studies, acting as an intermediary between services and departments, overseeing data and specimen management, creating and cleaning databases, coordinating staff schedules, assisting with training of Assistant CRCs, managing protocol applications in the Committee on Human Research online system, participating in protocol reviews for IRB approval, ensuring compliance with regulatory agencies, overseeing data integrity, conducting quality control procedures, interfacing with departments for UCSF approvals, maintaining regulatory documents, reporting study progress to investigators, participating in audits, and performing other duties as assigned.
Your placement within the salary range is dependent on work experience and internal equity. For positions represented by a labor union, placement will follow the collective bargaining agreement.
The salary range for this position is $34.32 - $55.19 hourly.

Department Description The Division of Gastroenterology at UCS Health consists of 124 faculty, fellows, and staff whose work is grounded in a deep commitment to the highest standards of clinical care and teaching, as well as research leading to new approaches to the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of diseases. Our faculty are leading experts in adult Gastroenterology and Hepatology.
Required Qualifications
HS graduation and sufficient experience and demonstrated skills to successfully perform the assigned duties and responsibilities; and/or equivalent experience/training.
Attention to detail; strong interpersonal skills; excellent, effective verbal and written communication skills to coordinate with subjects, team members, other departments and outside institutions; and the ability to multi‑task in a fast‑paced environment while working with a diverse subject population.
Ability to work well independently, complete projects in a timely manner, and prioritize multiple projects to ensure the completion of essential tasks by deadlines.
Preferred Qualifications
BA/BS degree in physical or biological sciences and one year of clinical research experience, or a combination of experience and education.
Fluency in the use of the Committee of Human Research (CHR) online iMEDris system for submission, renewal, and modification of protocols through this system.
Understanding of patient population to create rapport and a relationship, while also giving insight into what is realistic and appropriate for patient participation.
Experience with electronic medical records.
Knowledge of UCSF and departmental policies for dealing with reimbursement, research guidelines for confidentiality and HIPAA regulations, following the UCSF mission statement and purpose for research, a clear understanding of policies and procedures on patient safety and confidentiality (electronic and hard copy medical records, patient charts, communication, etc.).
Knowledge of medical terminology, research policies and guidelines, guidelines for packing / shipping infectious substances, database building / analysis, data management within some of the following: Access, Stata, SASS/SPSS, and Teleform programming platforms.
Experience applying the following regulations and guidelines:

Health Information and Accountability Act (HIPAA)
The Protection of Human Research Subjects
CHR regulations for recruitment and consent of research subjects
