Software Development Manager, Amazon FSx for Lustre Description:

We are looking for an exceptional software development leader to help revolutionize cloud file storage for GPU‑heavy AI/ML workloads, high‑performance computing (HPC), and enterprise applications. Launched in 2018, Amazon FSx for Lustre is an AWS service that provides fully managed, high‑performance file storage that powers some of the most critical and largest‑scale workloads on AWS today. AWS is a dynamic and rapidly growing business within Amazon with over a million active customers in 190 countries. We maintain this rapid pace of innovation by treating each team like its own independent business inside AWS, directly accountable for customer satisfaction, service innovation, growth, and revenue goals.

As a Software Development Manager, you will lead a team designing and building transformative new customer experiences on Amazon FSx for Lustre. Delivering reliable and high‑performance services at AWS scale requires technical leaders with extraordinary expertise and boundless creativity. At Amazon, managers interact with customers, understand our business goals, and innovate rapidly, delivering high‑quality, ground‑breaking functionality.

Utility Computing (UC) is part of the broader AWS organization that supports product innovations across compute, database, storage, IoT, platform, and productivity apps services.

Key job responsibilities:

Lead a team of software engineers in the delivery and operational excellence of an AWS service.

Hire, mentor, and promote engineers.

Work with teams across AWS to build new solutions.

Build mechanisms to drive the highest standards within your team.

Work with product managers, principal engineers, and senior leadership to define the technical roadmap and strategy for FSx.

Basic Qualifications:

3+ years of engineering team management experience.

7+ years of direct engineering experience.

3+ years of designing or architecting new and existing systems.

8+ years of leading the definition and development of multi‑tier web services.

Knowledge of engineering practices and patterns for the full software/hardware/networks development lifecycle.

Experience partnering with product or program management teams.

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience communicating with users, technical teams, and senior leadership to collect requirements and describe product features, technical designs, and strategy.

Experience recruiting, hiring, mentoring, and managing teams of software engineers to improve skills and effectiveness.

Amazon offers a competitive total compensation package. Base pay ranges from $166,400 per year in our lowest geographic market to $287,700 per year in our highest geographic market.
