Contract Litigation Attorney
to handle challenging, high-level work while enjoying the flexibility of a contract arrangement—with strong potential for full-time or temp-to-perm placement.
About the Practice The firm's work spans the full spectrum of housing and affordable housing law, representing clients in areas such as:
Federal Affordable Housing Programs
Fair Housing & Homeless Assistance Programs
HUD Lending Programs
Low-Income Housing Tax Credits (LIHTC)
Asset and Property Management
Public Housing & Relocation
Federal Section 8 Rental Assistance
Housing Law Litigation
In addition, the team manages sophisticated real estate, land use, and construction litigation matters, including zoning, subdivision, condemnation, loan documentation, foreclosures, and receiverships.
The Role This role offers the best of both worlds: the depth and sophistication of
complex litigation
with the autonomy of an independent contributor. You'll be trusted to manage your own cases and contribute meaningfully to the firm's impactful housing and real estate work.
Key Responsibilities Handle litigation matters from start to finish, including:
Drafting and arguing motions
Managing discovery and depositions
Conducting legal research and preparing persuasive briefs
Appearing in Superior Court and occasionally Federal District Court
Act as second or first chair in complex matters
Collaborate with senior attorneys while managing your own caseload
Deliver polished, strategic work with minimal supervision
What You Bring
J.D. from an accredited law school and active California Bar membership
Strong litigation background—civil, housing, or real estate experience preferred
Excellent research, writing, and oral advocacy skills
Confidence in managing cases independently and appearing in court
A proactive, organized approach to client service and case management
Compensation & Structure
Contract position with potential for full-time or temp-to-perm transition
Competitive hourly rate, 3–7 year litigation attorneys $70–$110/hour
