ROAD STRUCTURES WORKER II Interviews will take place on week of January 12, 2025

PER COUNTY RULES, THIS POSITION IS ELIGIBLE FOR APPOINTMENT AT STEP 1, $67,059.20 ANNUALLY. COUNTY EMPLOYEES ARE SUBJECT TO THE COUNTY PROMOTION RULE FOR STEP PLACEMENT IN ACCORDANCE WITH COMP ORD 1.3.5 Road Structures Worker IIs perform work in the construction, repair, and preventive maintenance of County-maintained road and bridge structures, culverts, guardrails, masonry walls, concrete curb and gutters, and related structures. The current vacancy will be assigned to the Lakeside Road Station located at 13115 Willow Rd., Lakeside, CA 92040.

Hiring Process and Timeline

Job Offer and Background Process begins after interviews. Note: Current County employees may be excluded from additional background screening.

Pre-employment Medical Screening: Approximately 3 days following successful background investigation results.

Anticipated Start Date: Start date will be based upon successful completion of medical screening or other mutually agreed upon date.

Minimum Qualifications

Two (2) years of experience constructing, maintaining, and repairing a wide variety of road and bridge structures, culverts, related structures, and concrete finishing work; OR

Two (2) years of construction experience which has included general carpentry work; OR

One (1) year of experience as a Road Structures Worker I for the County of San Diego.

Notes A valid Class B California driver's license with a tank endorsement and without transmission or air brake restrictions, and a current medical card is required at time of appointment and both must be maintained throughout employment in this class. Some positions require a Class A California driver's license. Employees in this class are subject to random drug testing per DOT guidelines.

Evaluation Qualified applicants will be placed on a six (6) month employment list based on scores received during the evaluation of information contained in their employment and supplemental applications.
