Gemma Power Systems
Gemma Power Systems is seeking a full‑time Project Engineering Manager (PEM) to join our team. The PEM will begin in our Glastonbury, CT home office and then rotate between the home office and the project site as projects are assigned. This role requires experienced engineering management on multi‑million‑dollar power generation or industrial facility projects.

Position Overview The PEM is responsible for the overall technical well‑being of the project from proposal stage through engineering design, construction, and performance testing. Responsibilities include directing the development of engineering/design documents, overseeing the Engineer of Record (EOR), and managing vendor and subcontractor deliverables. A self‑driven, detail‑oriented manager with strong leadership skills is essential.
Responsibilities
Read and understand project requirements for proposal activities.
Provide review comments on customer specifications, plans, and other scope documents.
Perform or review calculations for equipment sizing, heat balances, pipe sizing, and auxiliary load estimates.
Develop or review specifications to support procurement bid activity.
Assist with bid evaluations and vendor technical selection.
Prepare an Engineering Subcontract for the prospective EOR.
Coordinate with potential customers and support conformance of the completed contract.
Read and understand project requirements for execution, including contract documents and technical plans.
Provide value engineering recommendations to the EOR or Project Manager.
Ensure EOR drawings and specifications are reviewed and comments provided timely.
Manage the Engineering Subcontract and approve invoices.
Review vendor deliverables and provide timely comments.
Review technical bid evaluations for equipment procurement.
Act as the technical interface with the designated customer technical contact.
Address field issues during installation and commissioning promptly.
Conduct performance testing to verify project performance guarantees.
Education and Experience Requirements
Degree in Engineering.
PE License.
At least 8 years of experience in development, design, or engineering of power plants or industrial facilities.
Strong process understanding of power plants.
Team player with good interpersonal skills.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Well organized and able to meet deadlines.
Strong problem‑solving skills.
Adept at managing a multi‑disciplinary team.
