Required Skills & Experience

10-15+ years of mechanical engineering experience in turbomachinery, power generation, industrial packaged systems, or skid-mounted equipment.

Proven experience designing fluid and mechanical systems (fuel, water, lube oil, cooling air, and compressed air/gas).

Skilled at developing and updating P&IDs, mechanical schematics, piping layouts, and general arrangement drawings.

Experience selecting and sizing pumps, valves, filters, heat exchangers, piping/tubing, and instrumentation.

Proficient with CAD tools (AutoCAD, NX, SolidWorks acceptable).

Demonstrated ability to review vendor engineering packages, maintain accurate BOMs, and manage engineering documentation.

Familiar with engineering change processes and configuration control.

Nice to Have Skills & Experience

Experience with mobile or modular power equipment.

Background in pipe stress considerations or FEA a plus.

Familiarity with rotating equipment, skid design, and industrial fabrication processes.

Field service or commissioning exposure beneficial.

Experience with mobile power units or skid-mounted packaged equipment.

Exposure to rotating equipment, pipe stress considerations, and field commissioning.

Job Description Insight Global is seeking a Sr. Mechanical Engineer to join a manufacturing company based in Glastonbury, CT. The Sr. Mechanical Engineer will lead the design, integration and lifecycle support of ancillary equipment associated with gas turbine packages, including fuel systems, lubrication skids, cooling systems, enclosure ventilation, and balance-of-plant-mechanical interfaces. In this role, you will work directly with counterpart Sr. Mechanical Engineers and Director of Engineering. Your day-to-day responsibilities will include:

Lead mechanical design of ancillary systems including fuel forwarding, lube oil, cooling/ventilation, starting air/gas, water wash, and auxiliary piping.

Produce and maintain mechanical engineering deliverables: P&IDs, specifications, mechanical datasheets, piping layouts, and system level general arrangements.

Perform mechanical calculations (pressure drop, pump sizing, heat transfer, ventilation sizing).

Define and manage interfaces with balance-of-plant mechanical systems.

Review and approve vendor designs, test documentation, and fabrication drawings.

Support field/commissioning issues, NCRs, CARs, and root-cause analysis related to auxiliary systems.

Participate in design reviews, hazard assessments, and continuous improvement initiatives.

Compensation: $50-67/hour

Exact compensation may vary based on several factors, including skills, experience, and education.
