Job Summary A registered professional nurse employed on the Trauma Stepdown Unit (TSDU) of Erlanger Health System is responsible for direct and indirect care of patients with a variety of traumatic or surgical related conditions, including fractures, head injuries, blunt and penetrating trauma, gunshot/stabbing, MVC or extended surgical recovery.
Education
Required: Graduate from an accredited School of Nursing; Annual Erlanger Health System EOL and Elsevier courses.
Preferred: N/A
Experience
Required: Knowledge of general nursing principles and practice skills; knowledge of organizational functions, policies, and regulations; knowledge of current trends and new developments; knowledge of principles and practices of nursing applicable to those areas requiring special education.

Position Requirements
Current licensure to practice nursing in the State of Tennessee.
BLS and ACLS certification completed prior to going to unit/department and to be maintained going forward.
Compliance with Tennessee nursing licensure rules (details as per state guidelines).
Department Position Summary The RN on the Trauma Stepdown Unit must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide comprehensive direct and/or indirect care of patients with a variety of traumatic or surgical related conditions. The registered nurse must be able to assess and monitor patients pre- and post-procedure, administer medications, and assist with bedside procedures under the direction of EHS physicians. The RN must provide care appropriate to the age and acuity of the patients served, maintaining a 4:1 patient-to-nurse ratio. The nurse must interpret appropriate information to identify each patient's requirements based on age-specific needs, following the unit’s policies and procedures manual.
