Job Title Speech Pathologist
Pay Range $65,000.00 – $70,000.00 per year
Job Overview The Speech Pathologist is responsible for evaluating, diagnosing, and treating patients with speech, language, and swallowing disorders.
The role collaborates with interdisciplinary teams to create and implement individualized treatment plans and ensure optimal patient outcomes within an acute care or hospital setting.
Responsibilities
Evaluate and treat patients with speech, language, and/or swallowing impairments.
Perform objective swallow evaluations and recommend safe diet consistencies to support patient nutrition.
Develop individualized treatment plans and set measurable goals for patients requiring speech, language, or feeding/swallowing interventions.
Re‑evaluate and modify treatment programs as needed based on patient progress.
Address areas such as articulation, voice, fluency, receptive and expressive language skills, oral motor competence, and dysphagia.
Accurately document all patient visits and progress in the EMR system.
Educate patients and their families on therapy plans and progress.
Collaborate with an interdisciplinary healthcare team to establish and adjust care plans.
Primary Skills
Speech and language assessment and therapy techniques.
Dysphagia management and MBS (Modified Barium Swallow) competency.
Patient and family education.
EMR documentation proficiency.
Secondary Skills (Good to Have)
Experience working with diverse patient populations (cardiac, orthopedic, neurologic, vascular, pulmonary, and medical‑surgical).
Interdisciplinary collaboration and team communication skills.
Qualifications
Master’s Degree in Speech‑Language Pathology required.
Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC‑SLP) from the American Speech‑Language‑Hearing Association (ASHA).
Current New York State license and registration in Speech‑Language Pathology required.
BLS certification through the American Heart Association required.
Acute care or hospital setting experience required.
MBS experience/competency preferred.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills with ability to comply with all regulatory standards.
