SSC is hiring immediately for a full time HVAC Technician position. Location: SSC - 4202 East Fowler Avenue, Tampa, FL 33620. Openings at other locations within school district available. The HVAC Maintenance Technician performs a variety of skilled maintenance duties related to facilities engineering and maintenance. This position is typically assigned to a Supervisor, Foreman, and/or Master Mechanic on a regular basis. The incumbent works independently within their trade and may hold an appropriate state license. They will analyze and correct complex problems and ensure that non-license workers perform work in accordance with correct practices. Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Update work statuses and document tasks completed in the CMMS using a mobile device. Help determine manpower, material needs, and deadlines for jobs and projects. Clean, lubricate, service, repair, and diagnose malfunctions of HVAC, electrical and mechanical building systems, sterilizers, food service equipment, sprinkler and standpipe systems, transport systems, electronic signaling systems, fire alarm systems, and related equipment. Assist in making decisions on repairs and report major problems to the Maintenance Supervisor, Foreman, and Manager as appropriate. Construct, install, maintain, and repair electrical and mechanical systems or related facilities using power and hand tools. Review outside vendor projects and prepare punch lists. Analyze and correct complex building system problems and electro/mechanical problems related to utilities. Support project management activity as needed. Respond to emergency problems in the facility and perform emergency repairs as needed. Maintain logs, perform rounds, complete preventive maintenance work orders, tests, and inspections. Make recommendations for modification or improvement of preventive maintenance systems. Maintain shops and mechanical areas in a clean and safe manner. Perform other duties as assigned. Qualifications
5 years of experience as a Maintenance Technician in an institutional setting in an engineering or maintenance discipline. One of the following: Journeyman Electrical License, Registered ACR Technician with EPA certification in Refrigerant, or Journeyman Plumber License. Experience working with blueprints and schematics. Valid driver’s license. General understanding of electro-mechanical equipment. Rudimentary ability to utilize hand-operated construction equipment. Ability to repeatedly lift 50 pounds and kneel/bend/stoop for extended periods. Working Conditions
Exposure to high heat, noise, dust, dirt, and areas requiring infection control. Must meet deadlines and be able to work all hours, including weekends and nights, as necessary to maintain facilities at a safe level. Benefits
