Overview
Ansible Government Solutions, LLC (Ansible) is currently recruiting multiple Critical Care Registered Nurses to support the Michael E. DeBakey Department of Veterans Affairs Medical Center located at 2002 Holcombe Blvd, Houston, TX 77030. Nurses may also be asked to provide services at Community Based Outpatient Centers (CBOC). Multiple shift schedules are available. Responsibilities
Provide critical care nursing to ICU patients
Obtain patient and family history
Assess patient condition and plan appropriate nursing care
Document care plans and treatments in medical records
Verify physician orders; no verbal orders accepted
Carry out physician orders and document in medical records
Communicate pertinent patient data to the Charge Nurse and/or Physician
Reassess patient’s condition and revise care plans as needed
Administer medications and IV therapies
Know actions and dosages of emergency drugs and their locations
Assess and document patient responses to medications
Interpret cardiac rhythms and their implications
Manage emergencies, therapies, and procedures
Instruct patients and families on medications and procedures
Assess and implement patient education plans
Operate defibrillators, EKG machines, cardiac monitors, and other emergency equipment
Care for patients with Swan-Ganz catheters, arterial lines, and ventilators
Participate in discharge planning
Initiate life-saving measures in the absence of physicians
Ensure report accuracy and sign documentation
Maintain professional appearance and decorum
Apply VA’s customer service standards
Respect patient privacy and rights
Accept verbal orders per policy
Monitor fluid intake/output; review lab data
Titrate medications as needed
Manage feeding tubes and perform urinary catheter care
Ensure medication orders are followed up on
Qualifications
Completion of an accredited RN program (BSN or ADN)
Current RN license in the U.S.
AHA BLS and ACLS certifications
At least 1 year of recent critical care RN experience
No sponsorship available
Physical and Other Requirements
Ability to sit, stand, walk, lift, and reach during shifts
Lift up to 50 lbs from floor to waist
Lift up to 20 lbs
Carry up to 40 lbs
Push/pull with 30 lbs force
