What to Expect (Job Responsibilities): Audit medical records to identify missed charges, incorrect coding, and inconsistencies affecting billing Conduct Root Cause Analyses to report findings on common coding issues and missed billing opportunities Retrieve missing patient information and documentation necessary for billing Prepare reports and summaries of audit findings for presentation and educational purposes Provide coding support to cross-functional teams and assist with special projects
What is Required (Qualifications): Minimum of 3 years of coding experience Must have and maintain an approved coding credential through AAPC or AHIMA Must obtain at least one additional certification (CANPC or CPMA) within 1 year of employment Extensive knowledge of medical billing software and electronic medical records Proficient PC skills, including Microsoft 365 and Excel (basic formulas, VLOOKUP, pivot tables)
How to Stand Out (Preferred Qualifications): Previous coding experience within Anesthesia or General Surgery Knowledge of clinical documentation compliance and regulatory requirements
