Join our team of problem solvers as we add new chapters to the history of spaceflight! This role is part of the New Shepard program, which is a reusable suborbital rocket system designed to take astronauts and research payloads past the Karman line, supporting our mission of lowering the cost of access to space. As part of a diverse and hardworking team, you will provide technical analysis leadership on a range of problems including loads and static and dynamic analysis of structures and ground systems. You will be the senior structural technical authority responsible for human flight certification of the New Shepard launch vehicle and ground systems. You will also have opportunities to improve analysis tools and methods and collaborate with other analysis teams. Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Solving complex structural analysis problems for the New Shepard program. Interfacing with technical leaders to implement analysis methods, requirements, and policies. Supporting configuration development and trade studies. Identifying opportunities for analysis efficiency, safety, and cost improvements. Mentoring designers and training structural analysts. Maintaining activity schedules and technical status reports. We seek someone with technical expertise, leadership skills, and a commitment to quality to positively impact safe human spaceflight. Passion for our mission is essential! Minimum Qualifications:
B.S. or M.S. in engineering with 10+ years of experience in aircraft, spacecraft, or launch vehicle structures. High judgment; ability to generate innovative solutions and balance analysis rigor with engineering judgment. Experience with launch vehicles, aircraft, or automotive structures, including load path definition, fatigue, dynamic analysis, structural optimization, and stress analysis of metallic/composite structures. Proficiency with analysis codes such as Nastran, Ansys, Abaqus, LS-Dyna, or Optistruct. Ability to build trust and foster an inclusive culture. Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with aerospace structural certification. Experience writing structural requirements and standards. Experience with vibroacoustics analysis and environmental testing. Compensation Range for WA applicants: $164,682.00-$230,554.80. Other site ranges may differ. Culture Statement:
