The Major Gifts Senior Manager oversees a donor portfolio of high-profile supporters and is responsible for discovery, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship plans that deepen donor engagement and bolster major gifts support for all of Habitat Charlotte Region programs. This position will work closely with team members, community advocates, and high-net worth donors to elevate the Habitat brand across GSA counties: Iredell, Mecklenburg, and Gaston.
This role requires exceptional communication and marketing skills, willingness to travel and engage community partners, and a passion for Habitat’s mission. The position involves supporting departmental responsibilities and other duties as assigned by the Director of Development.
Essential Functions (Salary Range $72k - $74k)
Manage discovery processes to qualify or disqualify donors as Major Gift prospects
Cultivate a welcoming environment for donors to deepen engagement and understanding of Habitat’s impact
Solicit donors to increase their financial contributions and encourage advocacy and community involvement
Steward donors and gifts promptly, celebrating their contributions and ensuring a positive experience
Maintain engagement and investment opportunities for portfolio donors
Collaborate with the Annual Fund team on strategies to increase individual giving
Track donor behavior and giving patterns in Salesforce, ensuring transparency in forecasts and plans
Work independently with a remote schedule, demonstrating energy, creativity, and strategic thinking to expand Habitat’s community reach
Participate in and support donor and volunteer events, especially those delegated by the Director of Development
Assist in creating communication plans to keep donors engaged and inspired
Support community presence through events and activities to build contact lists and visibility
Manage Generations Society communications and programming via newsletters, events, and solicitations
Support team members and perform other development duties as needed
Qualifications Required knowledge, skills, and abilities include:
At least 5 years of experience in donor relations and major gift programs
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Ability to solicit donors directly and ask for financial support
Willingness to travel for meetings and events
Experience in event and project management
Ability to develop strategies and detailed action plans
Strong organizational and problem-solving skills
Enthusiasm for teamwork, accuracy, initiative, and continuous improvement
Work Environment & Physical Demands Work primarily in Charlotte with some regional travel. Flexibility to work evenings and weekends as needed. Must be able to work in an office environment, speak, hear, and perform manual tasks like managing reports and typing.
Additional Details Estimated time commitment: 40+ hours/week, Monday-Friday. Pre-employment background check and drug screening required. Preference for Section 3 residents per HUD regulations.
