Job Summary:
The Senior Manager, Corporate Strategy & Development drives and supports Americas’ strategic planning, portfolio strategy, location strategy, asset management, strategic initiatives, and new business development. They build strong collaborative partnerships with many major internal functions.
Responsibilities:
Portfolio Strategy & Asset Management:
Developes asset management optimization and prioritization strategies, including expansion, contraction, disposition, and reconfiguration of sites
Develops relative prioritization for both further investment in current footprints and for new potential geographic expansions
Helps develop metro and regional capacity strategies and support capex forecasts on planned development
Identifies and prioritizes development of new business cases for expansion
Alongside internal business partners, prioritizes and ensures the timely investment roadmap for investment to refresh/upgrade sites, mindful of end‑of‑life infrastructure and mitigation of single points of failure
Develops points of view and proposed action plans regarding metro‑ and site‑level performance, including prioritization and roadmap of site closures and divestments; partnering with the PMO Office to onboard identified site migrations and exits into such processes
Supports near‑ and long‑term capacity plans and maintains inventory roadmaps
Oversees the financial modeling and development of presentations
Develops and presents investment proposals to executive management
Reviews ad hoc financial analysis and supports investment analysis for other business units including M&A, Commercial Finance, Business Development, and others
Strategic Planning and Development:
Manages the annual strategic planning process in conjunction with the Regional and Corporate teams; leading key initiatives during the annual strategy planning process
Develops strategy/business cases for strategic initiatives, sells into organization, leads and manages cross‑functional program teams, and raises/resolves issues
Drives competitive and market research to track and synthesize competitors’/partners’ initiatives, key trends, and disruptions across the ecosystem (e.g., data centers, connectivity providers, independent power providers, hyperscalers, neo‑clouds) to deliver insights that inform strategy and action‑planning; partnering with global Market Intelligence team for research
Evaluates and (in some cases) spearheads corporate development opportunities, partnering with Finance, Marketing and other operating areas
Develops strategies to capture significant benefit from the proliferation of AI inference
Takes on a wide variety of roles, depending on the project
Delivers presentations to senior management on key initiatives
Project and Program Management:
Works with leadership to identify business issues requiring project management
Develops Executive staff and Board‑level presentation materials
Identifies, designs, prioritizes, manages and reports on complex strategic initiatives across the business
Leads efforts on internal consulting projects focused on new markets/products, growth initiatives and profitability improvements
Runs interdepartmental working group meetings with little or no supervision
Helps kick‑off meetings and hosts sections of cross‑departmental meetings as needed
Works with working group team members to identify, catalogue, document, and make recommendations to more senior team members
Provides summary notes and follow‑up emails to working teams
Joint Ventures and M&A:
Supports and, often, drives development of JV investment opportunities for growth
Supports buyside and sellside M&A processes, as needed
Actively follows and analyzes deal activity in areas of interest to Equinix
Supports development of operational models and synergy forecasts for targets
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree preferred; MBA a plus
7+ years of relevant business experience, preferably in Top‑tier Management consulting/Corporate Strategy/Corporate Development at a leading technology company
Strong preference for significant, relevant data center experience
Targeted Pay Range:
United States – Denver (DE1): 155,000 – 233,000 USD / Annual United States – Redwood City (GHQ): 186,000 – 280,000 USD / Annual United States – New York City (NYO1): 171,000 – 257,000 USD / Annual United States – Ashburn (AEO): 171,000 – 257,000 USD / Annual
