IPT Software Design Manager 3 - R10214406 Northrop Grumman Microelectronics Center (NGMC) is seeking an IPT Software Design Manager 3 to lead a software design team at the Segment/IPT level of a complex system comprising multiple segments of mature and emerging technologies.

What You’ll Get To Do This dual‑role Manager/IPT Software Design Lead will support critical engineering reviews and milestones (e.g., SRR, SFR, SDR, PDR, CDR, SVR, TRR). Roughly 80% of the time will be spent on technical activities, with 20% devoted to management duties such as supporting, developing, and tasking engineering staff; developing engineering processes; and provisioning resources to meet program needs.

Location On‑site in the greater Baltimore, MD area or Redondo Beach, CA.

Security Clearance Position requires acquisition and maintenance of a U.S. Government security clearance. A TS/SCI with polygraph clearance is required before the start date.

Basic Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree in a STEM discipline with at least 8 years of experience; or 6 years with a Master’s Degree; or 4 years with a PhD.

Proof of ability to lead and motivate engineering teams toward project goals.

Demonstrated experience with the full software life cycle: specification, design, implementation, integration, debug, and maintenance.

Experience completing architectural studies, software design synthesis, technical baseline definition, and requirements & interface management.

Strong understanding of Systems Engineering fundamentals, principles, and processes, especially system architecture and design synthesis.

Strong understanding of software design principles, computer architecture, and relevant technologies.

Proficiency in working with real‑time embedded software.

Must be a U.S. citizen.

Current Active DoD Secret Clearance with the ability to obtain and maintain a TS/SCI with polygraph prior to start.

Preferred Qualifications

Current active DoD TS/SCI with Polygraph clearance.

Experience creating system and interface definitions through Block Definition Diagrams (BDDs) and Internal Block Definition Diagrams (IBDs).

Direct application of defining desired interaction between software and hardware components and subsystems.

Experience with:

Infrastructure tools: Docker, Kubernetes, Cypress, Doxygen, Jupyter Notebooks, Visual Studio, Python, node.js.

Application Management tools: GitLab, Nexus, Prometheus, Trivy, SonarQube.

Data and Visualization tools: SharePoint, Elasticsearch, MariaDB, MongoDB, Tableau, Grafana.

Experience with MBSE and Requirements management tools such as Cameo and DOORS.

Experience with hardware/software integration, test planning & execution, or operational support.

Familiarity with Project & Task Management tools: Jira or Confluence.

Familiarity with data visualization tools: Tableau.

Salary Range $178,500.00 – $267,700.00 (position‑specific).
