RELOCATION ASSISTANCE: Relocation assistance may be available. CLEARANCE TYPE: Polygraph. TRAVEL: Yes, 10% of the time.

What You’ll Get to Do You’ll be responsible for the software architecture of a major segment of an extremely complex system that incorporates both mature and emerging technologies. In addition, you will analyze overarching needs using a structured, logical approach and develop system architecture solutions and concepts for new and emerging capabilities. This work will be performed in collaboration with other architects, including the lead systems architect, hardware architects, cyber architect, along with internal, customer, and supplier stakeholders. This position will serve on‑site in the greater Baltimore, MD area. This position is contingent upon acquiring and maintaining the necessary US Government security clearance per customers’ requirements.

Basic Qualifications for Senior Principal IPT Software Architect

Bachelor’s degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) discipline from an accredited university and 8 years of experience with a Bachelor’s degree, 6 years of experience with a Master’s degree, or 4 years of experience with a PhD.

Demonstrated experience with the Systems Development Lifecycle and successfully supporting major reviews.

Demonstrated experience working with architectural studies, technical baseline definition, requirements, and interface management.

Demonstrated experience with Model Based Systems Engineering (SysML/MBSE).

Strong understanding of systems engineering fundamentals, principles, and processes, specifically system architecture.

Strong understanding of software design principles, computer architecture, and relevant technologies.

Excellent written and oral communication skills with strong technical briefing skills.

This position requires the applicant to be a U.S. citizen.

Current active DoD Secret Clearance with the ability to obtain and maintain a TS/SCI with Polygraph prior to start.

Preferred Qualifications for Senior Principal IPT Software Architect

Current active DoD TS/SCI with Polygraph clearance.

Experience with full software lifecycle: specification, design, implementation, integration, debugging, and maintenance.

Understanding of system and interface definitions through the creation of Block Definition Diagrams (BDDs) and Internal Block Definition Diagrams (IBDs).

Knowledge of software design principles and patterns.

Understanding of interaction between different software and hardware components and subsystems.

Experience and familiarity with some combination of:

Infrastructure tools: Docker, Kubernetes, Cypress, Doxygen, Jupyter Notebooks, Visual Studio, Python, node.js.

Application Management tools: GitLab, Nexus, Prometheus, Trivy, SonarQube.

Data and Visualization tools: SharePoint, Elasticsearch, MariaDB, MongoDB, Tableau, Grafana.

Experience with hardware/software integration, test planning and execution, or operational support.

Familiarity with project and task management tools: Jira or Confluence.

Primary Level Salary Range $137,400.00 – $206,000.00. The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate’s experience, education, skills, and current market conditions.

Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
