Senior Track Design Engineer – New York, NY
Join WSP in the U.S. as a Senior Track Design Engineer and play a pivotal role in designing and overseeing transit and railroad projects. You will collaborate with WSP’s Transit and Rail Team to deliver high‑quality solutions that meet client objectives and address complex transportation challenges.
Responsibilities
Provide design leadership and direction for all track design facets of transit and railroad projects.
Coordinate and lead engineering efforts on rail infrastructure projects from planning and design through construction support and maintenance.
Establish and maintain strong, effective relationships with external clients and market WSP services to transit agencies and local railroads.
Mentor and develop younger engineers by assigning appropriate technical tasks and fostering a culture of technical excellence.
Supervise and integrate multidisciplinary rail teams.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in engineering or a closely related discipline.
7 to 10 years of experience in track design.
Professional registration (P.E. License).
Proven ability to deliver railroad and transit design projects as lead designer or specialist.
Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, including the ability to present design concepts to audiences ranging from technical managers to ordinary citizens.
Proficiency in track alignment design and CADD skills in MicroStation and AutoCAD platforms.
Preferred Qualifications
Master’s degree in engineering.
Working knowledge of design requirements for rail systems (e.g., traction power, catenary, signals).
Understanding of track structure design principles and special trackwork details.
Experience with design and testing of ballast‑less track forms.
Experience in construction, maintenance or inspection of track.
