Job Description About the Store Manager Role The Store Manager is a salaried role providing daily leadership to all store positions, including General Service Technicians, Guest Care Specialists, and the Assistant Store Manager. Reporting to the District Manager, the Store Manager drives sales, staff development, and operational excellence to support Monro’s vision of being America’s leading automotive service and tire center.
Salary Range:
$65,000 – $75,000, plus additional compensation and incentives based on experience.
Responsibilities
Develop sales and technical teammates to produce a consistent 5‑star Guest experience.
Ensure sales goals are achieved by developing and implementing sales plans and maintaining thorough knowledge of services and products.
Introduce tire and service products to guests to maximize sales and satisfaction.
Support teammates in a productive sales environment by training on shop operations and guest services.
Provide direction and oversight to technicians and assist with services/repairs when needed.
Manage recruiting, hiring, training, scheduling, performance management, and development of teammates.
Control expenses through payroll, utilities, supplies, and other controllable spending.
Oversee inventory management, including pulling tires and parts, unloading, and stocking.
Audit courtesy inspections performed by teammates.
Maintain store conditions to Monro’s cleanliness and guest‑ready standards.
Schedule guest appointments and assign teammates according to skill level for efficient service.
Achieve sales goals by recommending appropriate products and promotions.
Attend to all guest needs in sales, service, complaints, and adjustments.
Build guest relationships to maximize satisfaction, loyalty, and retention.
Assist teammates in conveying repair and service needs to guests.
Understand and adhere to company policies, governmental standards, and OSHA requirements.
Maintain technical knowledge through Monro University training courses.
Operate equipment safely in accordance with Monro and manufacturer guidelines.
Perform other duties as assigned.
About the Assistant Store Manager Role As an Assistant Automotive Store Manager, you will be involved in all aspects of daily store operations, including safe operation of service bays. You’ll begin a comprehensive management training program and be prepared for a future Manager role.
Salary Range:
$18.00 – $22.00 per hour, plus additional compensation and incentives.
Responsibilities
Collaborate with Store Manager on hiring, training, coaching, disciplining, and terminations.
Support technicians by training on sales and shop operations.
Assist with employee scheduling, timecards, and assigning work to Lube and Tire technicians.
Perform technician duties when necessary.
Attend meetings and clinics to stay current on tools, parts, and repairs.
Qualifications
High School Diploma or equivalent.
Demonstrated leadership experience in retail/sales.
Proven ability to control costs while driving financial results.
Ability to influence and motivate a team to achieve goals.
Problem‑solving skills in inventory, merchandising, and customer service.
Excellent communication skills.
Complete all required Monro training within guidelines.
Valid driver’s license and satisfactory MVR.
Guest and team‑focused mindset with customer‑centric experience.
Clear written and verbal communication for technical issues.
Business orientation with drive to exceed goals.
Basic math skills for calculating discounts and percentages.
Proactive, multitasking in a fast‑paced environment.
Initiative to identify problems, collect data, and solve.
Mentoring, coaching, and development skills.
Resolved customer complaints effectively.
Work Environment & Physical Requirements The role operates in an automotive shop environment with moderate noise, adverse weather, chemicals, odors, dirt, and dust. Key requirements include:
Ability to work flexible hours, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
Capability to lift, carry, and stock merchandise up to 50 lbs.
Frequent standing, walking, reaching, squatting, bending, and twisting.
