Field Support personnel are critical members of the Social Work Field Team that facilitate and administer the field education enrollment experience for Social Work students and contribute to the success of the department in equipping students for the profession.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

Conduct student interviews to assess needs and interests, and exercise discretion in matching students with quality field placements.

Coordinate with the Gate team to assess student readiness for field, identifying strengths and areas for improvement.

Review and approve placement proposals and accompanying documentation, facilitate communication among departments, and manage student and department concerns while troubleshooting problems.

Research potential resources and recruit, process, and onboard community agencies that provide student field placements.

Negotiate individual contracts with agencies to ensure both agency and university requirements are met.

Maintain public relations with agencies through frequent contact, site visits, and relationship building to secure ongoing internship opportunities and address partnership challenges.

Interpret and implement policies and procedures related to field enrollment, ensuring compliance with Education and Policy Standards from the Council on Social Work Education.

Represent the department at internal university and external community functions, and provide trainings on field education policies and practices.

Administer the submission process for proposals using CORE field placement software and Canvas Learning Management System to review, approve, and track data.

Communicate with other university departments (Registrar, Contracts, Career Center, University Events) and assist Field Coordinators, Directors of Field Education, and other leadership with assigned duties.

Demonstrate excellent interpersonal skills, communicate clearly in oral and written correspondence with students, faculty, staff, and community members, and apply judgment to solve problems.

Handle multiple projects professionally and gracefully, balancing independence and teamwork while maintaining organizational skills and a calm, positive demeanor in challenging situations.

Qualifications, Credentials, and Competencies

Bachelor’s degree with 2‑3 years of administrative experience.

Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office, SharePoint, etc.

Familiarity with the Social Work profession.

Familiarity with Learning Management Systems (e.g., Canvas).

Customer service experience.

Strong technical competency.

Superior ability to prioritize tasks.

Experience in event planning.
