Neurology The Department of Neurology has a talented, robust team of more than 70 faculty members spanning nine divisions includes representatives from every neurology subspecialty in adult and child neurology, plus award‑winning educators, clinical and translational neuroscientists and master clinicians. Advance the knowledge of neurological diseases by actively developing innovative treatments through basic, translational and clinical research. Duties & Responsibilities
The mission of the Department of Neurology is to provide state of the art comprehensive patient centered neurological care for adults and children, perform translational and clinical research to further understanding of disease mechanisms and develop new treatments, and train the next generation of neurologist and clinical neurologists. Chief Purpose of this position
The Department of Neurology is seeking a full‑time member to join our expanding clinical and research enterprises in the Division of Child Neurology. This position will provide patient care, engage in medical student and neurology resident and fellow education, and participate in clinical research. Position Responsibilities
Clinical
– Primary clinical responsibilities include care of patients in both inpatient and outpatient settings with an emphasis on Child Neurology. Teaching
– Faculty member will teach medical students and housestaff. They will be expected to organize and develop a series of formal conferences for the housestaff and students emphasizing issues in Child Neurology. They will attend weekly Grand Rounds and lecture upon occasion as requested. Research
– The Division of Child Neurology is engaged in clinical and translation research projects. The faculty member will be expected to participate in, and when appropriate lead, clinical research and clinical trials. Service
– Faculty member will serve on departmental, School of Medicine, and/or University committees as necessary, as well as in a professional capacity in their field, e.g. reviewer, conference organizer, etc. Minimum Qualifications
BC/BE in Neurology with Special Qualifications in Child Neurology Fellowship in Clinical Neurophysiology with an emphasis on Epilepsy or Fellowship in Epilepsy Demonstrated ability to work in and foster an environment of respect, professionalism and civility with a population of faculty, staff, and students from all backgrounds and experiences, or a commitment to do so as a faculty member at VCU Rank: Open Tenure: Ineligible Months: 12 Months Contact Information: Contact Name: Kelly Barnes Contact Email: Kelly.Cecil@vcuhealth.org
