Job Summary
The Director of Healthcare Contracts Development will lead strategic efforts to expand the organization's footprint within the healthcare sector, with a primary focus on developing partnerships with managed care organizations and health systems. This role is critical in advancing the mission of Open Hand by integrating medically tailored nutrition services into the healthcare landscape.

Duties/ Responsibilities
Lead efforts to establish pilot programs and regional contracts with managed care organizations, hospital systems, and safety net clinics, focusing on integrating Food is Medicine (FIM) strategies into existing healthcare delivery models. Develop scalable partnerships that generate revenue. Develop external relationships within managed care and health systems that will open opportunities for contract revenue, sales generation and further the mission of Open Hand Collaborate with internal and external partners to ensure alignment and leverage existing networks to create opportunities and a strategic approach for outreach to MCOs, ACOs, hospital systems, and state agencies. Work alongside internal teams to develop marketing strategies, assist with registration as a waiver provider, and implement outreach programs for new opportunities Continuously analyze the healthcare landscape to identify emerging opportunities for collaboration with healthcare payors and systems. Stay abreast of healthcare reform, Medicaid/Medicare changes, and alternative payment models that influence reimbursement for services addressing health-related social needs (HRSN) Cultivate and maintain relationships with health plans, integrated delivery networks, and accountable care organizations. Effectively communicate the value proposition of FIM interventions in addressing social drivers of health (SDOH) and improving health equity. Work cross-functionally to develop frameworks for integrating FIM strategies into clinical workflows and care coordination models within health systems. Support implementation planning and define success metrics. Identify and pursue new reimbursement pathways for medically tailored nutrition services. Advocate for investments in SDOH within healthcare financing, and work with internal and external stakeholders to navigate regulatory and compliance considerations. Collaborate with internal leadership and external partners to design, pilot, and scale new initiatives focused on addressing HRSN and SDOH through evidence-based FIM approaches. Represent the organization in industry forums, conferences, and strategic convenings to promote the role of nutrition in healthcare and to elevate the FIMC model. Use tools like Salesforce and Airtable to streamline research, track pipelines, and prioritize outreach efforts Create and maintain financial reporting that represent performance related to revenue targets Work collaboratively with Open Hand marketing manager and marketing agency to market GMM to target audiences and track relevant metrics.
Required Skills/Abilities
Deep understanding of the healthcare landscape, including managed care structures, value-based care models, and social determinants of health. Strong relationship-building, negotiation, and communication skills.
Education/Experience
Undergraduate degree in public health related studies. Master's degree in healthcare or business administration preferred. Proven experience in healthcare business development, managed care contracting, or provider engagement within a payor or health system context. Experience working in or with mission-driven or nonprofit organizations is a plus. Strategic thinker with the ability to translate complex healthcare dynamics into actionable opportunities.
Physical Requirements
Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer. Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at a time.
