Facility Chief Medical Officer (CMO)
ensures high-quality, patient-centered care by leading clinical and quality initiatives, supporting clinical performance and standards across the hospital. The CMO provides senior leadership for infection control, risk management, safety, and credentialing, ensuring collaboration among stakeholders. The CMO analyzes quality performance, identifies improvement opportunities, and consults on physician-related issues. The role also involves contributing to hospital strategy and service line development to enhance quality and patient experience. Major Responsibilities Physician Alignment Leads clinical performance expectations to ensure superior outcomes and patient experience. Works with hospital leadership and medical staff to improve medical staff effectiveness. Facilitates teamwork and shared goals among medical staff and management. Supports clinical resource management to optimize costs and effectiveness. Creates a data-driven environment for quality and cost improvement. Serves as liaison between physicians and clinical services. Develops management expertise among medical staff leaders through education programs. Leads educational sessions on clinical resource management and quality improvement. Assembles physician advisory panels and liaises with leadership and physicians. Communicates clinical initiatives to hospital staff and physicians. Collaborates daily with other CMOs. Educates physicians on clinical technologies and formulary/supply chain opportunities. Medical Staff Affairs Develops policies for disruptive and impaired physicians, and monitors their implementation. Recommends updates to hospital policies related to medical staff. Advises on credentialing, utilization, and quality profiling of physicians.
