Hennepin Healthcare is an integrated system of care that includes HCMC, a nationally recognized Level I Adult Trauma Center and Level I Pediatric Trauma Center, and an acute care hospital. Acute Psychiatric Services (APS)
department seeks a highly motivated individual for a
full-time (1.0 FTE)
role to provide clinical care and serve as the service medical director. APS offers 24/7 emergency mental health services, with a multidisciplinary team including Psychiatrists, Advanced Practice Providers, Psychiatric Nurses, Mental Health Workers, and Social Workers. The Medical Director provides clinical leadership to the team, direct patient care, and acts as a liaison and consultant to medical and nursing staff. The role involves collaborating with the psychiatry department leadership, participating in strategic planning, growth, marketing, research, and quality improvement initiatives. Responsibilities include: Diagnosing and treating mental, emotional, and behavioral disorders Developing treatment plans utilizing psychotherapy and medications Providing direct patient care for primary and secondary mental health diagnoses Collaborating with and educating other providers on physical health issues impacting mental health Qualifications: Minimum Qualifications: MD or equivalent degree Completion of residency in Psychiatry Board certified or eligible in Psychiatry (must be certified within 4 years if eligible) Current license or eligibility to practice medicine in Minnesota Hennepin Healthcare offers comprehensive benefits, including various insurance plans, 401(a) contributions, paid time off, CME leave, and support programs.
