MedStar Health is looking for a
PRN Radiation Therapist
to join our team at MedStar Washington Hospital Center. As a Radiation Therapy Technologist, you will administer radiation therapy treatments, perform simulation procedures, and assist in the planning of radiation therapy treatments. You will document all aspects of patient treatment in medical records and support the Chief Therapist and Technical Director in implementing new policies and procedures, aiming to meet departmental and organizational goals. Record simulation, treatment delivery, and billing; utilize the QA Checklist; run the Contingency Report; schedule simulation and treatment procedures; provide patients with initial appointments and treatment calendars; resolve treatment schedule conflicts; ensure all schedules are resolved daily; evaluate missed appointments and document in EMR; keep treatment/CT simulator rooms organized and stocked; notify the chief therapist of supplies needed; report malfunctions to physicist/engineer and document in the log.
Participate in meetings and community outreach; send evaluations to supervisor; ensure completion of weekly QA chart reviews; perform dose verification and document; verify weekly SSDs; acquire all necessary patient imaging; ensure charts are complete and accurate.
Operate the CT simulator and related equipment; perform quality assurance, emergency shutdown, and follow operation manuals; perform HDR and Mold Room duties; conduct urethrograms, oral, and IV contrast procedures; educate patients on procedures; fabricate immobilization devices; verify consent forms are signed and witnessed; complete documentation including photographs, billing, and associations.
Document symptoms or problems; promote a patient-friendly environment; treat patients and families with courtesy and respect; notify staff of cancellations and document reasons; assist in training new staff and students; complete necessary forms and evaluations.
Operate linear accelerators; demonstrate proficiency in setup and administration; perform quality assurance and emergency procedures; administer treatments following safety guidelines; educate patients on skin care, diet, and side effects; perform hand calculations and dose verifications.
Qualifications:
Graduation from an accredited school of Radiation Therapy Technology.
Maryland Board of Physicians License 'O' as a Radiation Therapist, or ASRT - Radiation Therapist 'M' License and Radiographer.
ARRT Certification.
Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers with AED.
Maintain Maryland CE requirements (24 CE credits/2 years).
