Snowden, our newly expanded 74-bed inpatient behavioral health facility on the grounds of Mary Washington Hospital, is seeking a Board Certified General Psychiatrist. Our facility offers a full spectrum of inpatient, outpatient, community, and emergency care. Position Details
This position will be Inpatient Only . Join a team led by an esteemed Psychiatrist who is board certified in general psychiatry. Responsibilities include diagnosis, treatment, medication management, and consultation for mental illnesses, emotional problems, dual diagnoses of intellectual disability, mental illness, and addiction in adolescents (if certified) and adults. Essential Duties and Qualifications
Provide diagnostic assessment and treatment. Establish and modify medical treatment plans; prescribe medication; monitor responses, side effects, and adverse reactions. Thorough knowledge of medicine and psychiatry principles and practices. Knowledge of current psychiatric practices, including substance use disorders, crisis management, and developmental disabilities. Ability to diagnose and treat mental illnesses related to substance use and physical conditions. Ability to work effectively with adults with emotional and behavioral disturbances. Work within an interdisciplinary team to solve problems within scope of responsibility. Must be licensed by the Commonwealth of Virginia to practice medicine. Board certification required for experienced psychiatrists; residents/fellows must become certified within one year of hire. Willingness to mentor medical students and residents.
