Responsibilities
Secure and prepare all supplies required for surgical intervention. Ensure the preparation and maintenance of the sterile field in the OR. Perform surgical counts according to center policies and procedures. Prepare patient skin for surgical treatment. Help monitor patients during surgery. Provide supportive care during the pre-operative phase. Perform surgical functions to assist the surgeon during procedures. Collect and label specimens taken during surgery. Follow all safety procedures mandated by federal, state, and departmental guidelines. Maintain a sterile environment during procedures. Assist surgeons, surgical nurses, or anesthesiologists with technical tasks. Prepare patients for surgery, including positioning and draping. Hand instruments and supplies to surgeons, hold retractors, and assist as directed. Care for and dispose of tissue specimens appropriately. Sterilize equipment using proper techniques and products. Monitor operating room conditions continuously. Operate and maintain sterilizers, lights, suction, and diagnostic equipment. Disinfect tools and equipment post-surgery. Assist with cleaning and turnover of the operating room. Key Competencies
Observant: Effectively notice relevant details during procedures. Proactive: Anticipate the needs of staff and patients. Reactive: Provide timely assistance in urgent situations. Problem Sensitivity: Recognize when corrections are needed. Steadiness: Maintain steady hands and arms when required. Qualifications
Preferred 2+ years of experience. Experience in ortho spine required. BLS & ACLS certification. Familiar with surgical instruments and equipment. Able to lift up to 50 lbs. Knowledge of sterile and aseptic techniques. Additional Details
