Automotive General Manager needed for busy new car dealership in the Brooklyn, NY market. This position will report directly to the Dealer Principal and the GM will be responsible to actively manage the store on a daily basis. The successful candidate is a General Manager who knows how to lead, manage, and grow the dealership while delivering a positive customer experience and maintaining profitability. Moreover, the dealer is looking for a GM who is proactive person and takes initiative on a daily basis; going through the CRM daily to review leads, running morning "save the deal" meetings every day, managing incentive reviews, ensuring compliance for deliveries, etc. The store has a solid team in place but needs a strong General Manager to keep the team focused, held accountable, energized, and ready to tackle each day following consistent processes. It is important that the person hired has a proven track record in automotive management, is a great communicator, and is a hands-on leader who does business the right way. Experience on Reynolds and Reynolds a plus.
Responsibilities:
Lead, recruit, train, and evaluate high-performing teams across all departments (sales, service, finance, and parts)
Foster a positive, accountable, and high-performance culture that is process driven and consistent
Conduct regular one-on-one meetings and team sessions to ensure alignment and drive results
Develop and implement strategic plans to achieve dealership sales and profitability targets
Set and manage monthly and annual sales goals for new and used vehicles
Guide sales managers and monitor daily sales activities, lead conversion, and closing ratios
Run daily “save the deal” meetings and ensure all leads are managed effectively via the CRM
Create and execute promotions, pricing strategies, and business development initiatives
Coach managers and staff on customer handling, product knowledge, and closing techniques
Negotiate key deals with customers, vendors, and manufacturers
Set high standards for customer service and ensure a seamless buying experience
Handle escalated customer concerns and implement processes to improve CSI scores
Oversee inventory levels, ordering, vehicle mix, pricing, and merchandising strategies
Collaborate with department leaders to optimize stock and manage aged inventory
Oversee dealership financial performance including budgeting, forecasting, and expense control
Analyze performance metrics and make data-driven operational decisions
Ensure compliance with legal, regulatory, and manufacturer standards
Maintain strong relationships with manufacturer reps and ensure program compliance
Compensation/Benefits:
Compensation will commensurate with experience but will be in the $250,000 - $300,000 range for the successful candidate.
