Job Summary:

Under direct RN supervision, provides professional nursing care for the comfort and well-being of patients using critical thinking and independent judgment. This includes all phases of the nursing process: assessment, diagnosis, planning, implementation, and evaluation. Learns to be responsible for the direction and supervision of the nursing patient care team, typically made up of Certified Nursing Assistants, Licensed Practical Nurses, and other technicians. Collaborates with the team and other disciplines in the provision of care. Works with their RN preceptor to document patient care, condition, reactions, and responses to treatment in a timely manner, tracking patient progress. Essential Functions: Consistently demonstrates an outward mindset and puts forth exemplary effort to achieve goals and objectives, helping others do the same. Conducts initial and ongoing assessments with their RN preceptor; develops and updates care plans accordingly in collaboration with patients, under RN supervision. Provides and evaluates nursing care outcomes with the RN preceptor. Uses technology appropriately, including safety standards and infection prevention measures. Follows evidence-based tools, policies, procedures, and standards of care and practice. Educates patients and families, documenting accordingly under RN oversight. Reports actual or potential occurrences following Oaklawn procedures. Engages in self-assessment, peer review, completes mandatory education and competency assessments, and accepts responsibility for ongoing professional development. Participates in unit-based performance improvement activities, staff meetings, and supports change. Practices in accordance with Michigan's legal nursing definitions, including delegation and supervision provisions, while working directly with their RN preceptor. Minimum Qualifications:

Successful completion of an accredited nursing program. Board eligible for licensure as a Registered Nurse in Michigan. Current BLS certification from the American Red Cross or American Heart Association for infants, children, and adults. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

Clear oral expression; active listening; deductive and inductive reasoning; clear writing skills; proficiency with technology such as EMR; focused attention; multitasking ability; manual dexterity; pattern recognition; medication calculation skills; cultural sensitivity; time management; and adherence to Oaklawn’s mission, nursing ethics, and care principles. Working Conditions:

Unpredictable environment with stressful situations, exposure to body fluids and infectious diseases, and potential traumatic experiences, including deceased patients. Physical Requirements:
