Shifts are 7-3:30. New hires are eligible for a one-time, taxable bonus of $10,000, paid in two installments: $5,000 after 90 days and $5,000 after 12 months.
Position Overview
Under the general direction of the Nurse Director and guidance of the Circulating registered nurse, the Surgical Technologist (ST) is a vital member of the surgical team responsible for providing intraoperative care to patients. The ST ensures instrumental care, safety, and effective communication within the surgical team. Responsibilities
Patient Care:
Apply Nursing Department and Surgical Services policies to ensure quality and appropriate practice. Quality Commitment:
Prioritize tasks, focus on patient progression, quality initiatives, and patient satisfaction. Assist with Surgical Procedures:
Collaborate with the circulating nurse to set up for surgeries, pass instruments, and assist surgeon at the sterile field. Procedure Preparation:
Review and update procedure and preference cards in collaboration with the circulating nurse and surgeon. Communication:
Maintain frequent communication with the circulating nurse regarding patient preparation, positioning, and case specifics. Preparation and Planning:
Anticipate needs for patient care, equipment, and supplies. Patient Monitoring:
Listen to reports of patient condition, discuss special needs, and document changes accurately. Plan of Care:
Collaborate with the circulating nurse and surgeon to implement and adjust the plan of care. Surgical Preparation:
Understand the surgical procedure and patient condition, prepare all requirements, and be ready on time. Surgical Specimens and Data Collection:
Prepare specimens and record data as per policy. Aseptic Technique:
Maintain aseptic environment according to policies. Equipment Maintenance:
Care for instruments and equipment, including room turnover duties. Participation:
Engage in care planning, staff conferences, and educational activities. Self-Development:
Identify learning needs and seek resources for professional growth. Professional Conduct:
Follow institutional policies, maintain integrity, punctuality, and confidentiality. Safety and Infection Control:
Report equipment issues, follow safety guidelines, and observe infection control policies. Physical and Environmental Conditions:
Be prepared for physical demands and potential hazards in the operating room environment. HIPAA Compliance:
Complete privacy training and adhere to confidentiality policies. Working Conditions
Operating Room environment with physical requirements including lifting, pushing, pulling, and standing for long periods. Adherence to safety protocols and infection control is mandatory. Minimum Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent and completion of an accredited Surgical Technologist Program. Current Surgical Technologist Certification required within one year of graduation or employment in a surgical setting before July 1, 2013. Alternative military or federal training recognized as substitution. Additional Information
