Stay safe and protect your personal information. ***This position is contingent upon contract award and will be located onsite in either the southeast, southwest, or central United States. Travel will likely be required.*** Duties and Responsibilities: Perform complex chemical, biological, hematological, immunologic, microscopic, and bacteriological tests. Examine and analyze body fluids and cells; match blood for transfusions. Be familiar with the American Association of Blood Banks (AABB) requirements for maintaining blood products for transfusion. Analyze the chemical content of fluids and test for drug levels in the blood. Prepare specimens, count cells, and look for abnormal cells in blood and body fluids. Analyze test results and communicate findings to physicians. Make cultures of body fluid and tissue samples to identify microorganisms. Analyze samples for chemical content or reactions, such as blood glucose and cholesterol levels. Evaluate test results, develop and modify procedures, and monitor programs to ensure test accuracy. Use universal safety precautions to protect against biohazardous materials, including blood-borne pathogens. Order and stock supplies; maintain a safe and clean work environment according to procedures and regulations. Maintain patient records, adjust and maintain equipment, prepare work schedules, evaluate equipment purchases, or manage a medical lab department. Provide supervision or act as Lead for the lab, guiding other technologists and technicians. Perform other duties and projects as assigned.
Qualifications:
Complete a formal Medical Technology training program leading to a Bachelor's Degree. Be certified by AMT, ASCP, or NCA. Maintain current BLS certification. Have at least five (5) years of experience as a Medical Technologist. Have at least one (1) year of experience in a Lead role. Have recent clinical experience in direct patient care, with a minimum of 6 months in the last 12 months. Be able to multi-task, be detail-oriented, organized, and possess excellent communication skills. Be proficient with computers, MS Office, and common office equipment. Adapt to sudden changes and flexible work requirements, including shift changes. Possess strong problem-solving skills for inquiries and timely responses. Be proficient in English communication skills.
Physical Requirements and Work Conditions Work typically performed in an interior/office environment. Involves sitting and standing for extended periods.
