About the Role Director, Intellectual Property - Patent Agent/Attorney responsible for patent preparation and prosecution while protecting and advancing Halozyme’s innovative life sciences portfolio.
Responsibilities
Draft, file, and prosecute U.S. and international patent applications in the biotechnology and life sciences fields.
Develop and execute global patent strategies aligned with business objectives.
Conduct patentability, freedom-to-operate, and landscape analyses.
Collaborate with R&D teams to identify and protect intellectual property.
Manage relationships with outside counsel and coordinate international filings.
Provide IP guidance to internal stakeholders on product development and regulatory strategies.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Biology or a related life sciences discipline is required; advanced degree (M.S., Ph.D.) in Biology or related field is strongly preferred. An equivalent combination of experience and education may be considered.
Registered to practice before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO).
For attorneys: J.D. from an accredited law school and admission to at least one state bar.
Deep understanding of U.S. and international patent laws and procedures.
Experience with biologics, gene therapy, or molecular biology technologies preferred.
Familiarity with IP issues in the pharmaceutical and regulatory frameworks preferred.

Base pay range: $180K – $252K per year. Additional compensation may include bonuses, sales incentives, and equity awards.
