About the Role As the Sr. Substation Project Engineering Manager, you will lead multi‑discipline teams and manage diverse, challenging projects across design services and EPC programs, overseeing design quality, budget, schedule, and client interaction.
Key Responsibilities
Lead a multi‑discipline team of engineers and technicians
Manage diverse and challenging projects across our portfolio of design services and EPC programs
Oversee design quality, budget, and schedule
Support client interaction, proposals, and business development
Prepare complex engineering deliverables for multiple or mega projects
Conduct research to develop equipment and material recommendations
Manage data and perform complex engineering calculations
Develop and manage project budgets, schedules, and quality requirements across multiple disciplines
Lead larger production teams, coordinate multiple discipline activities, and serve as the responsible charge for a project
Identify key client interests and drivers for moderately complex projects; communicate concerns and develop solutions
Provide technical leadership for complex Substation projects; drive solutions to achieve project goals
Review lower‑level engineering work or assignments
Responsible for hiring, discipline, and pay administration of subordinates
Preferred Qualifications
PE license highly preferred
Experience managing EPC or design services substation and switchyard projects for investor‑owned utilities in the United States
Design of substation facilities with strong understanding of overall project lifecycle, layout design, relay protection & control, civil/structural designs, and major equipment knowledge
Good communication skills and interest in engaging with clients to grow relationships
Advanced knowledge of engineering design principles and applicable design guides and standards
Working knowledge of procurement process and contract administration
Working knowledge of proposal process and developing engineering estimates
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in engineering from an accredited program
Minimum of 11 years of related work experience
Ability to complete pre‑employment onboarding requirements (background checks, drug screen, motor vehicle records)
Certifications & Licenses
Professional registration or licensure in the designated home office country; active pursuit of registration when practicing in another country (if applicable)
Work Environment / Physical Demands
Hybrid or flexible work options may be offered after first 90 days
Use of audio/video‑conferencing tools for internal/external communication
Extended periods of sitting, standing, and computer usage
Travel to client sites
Salary & Benefits Annual compensation range: $142,086.00 – $271,176.00.
