Job Description Category and Sourcing Management supports the development and implementation of long‑term strategies and projects for assigned categories (Plastics, Metal, Electrics/Mechanicals, OEM/CM, etc.). Responsibilities include managing tenders, negotiating price and contract terms, sustaining and NPD sourcing projects, driving cost improvement, risk mitigation, and technology adoption. The role requires deep knowledge of global and regional market trends, manufacturing processes, and collaboration with internal stakeholders and the global/regional procurement organization.
Job Duties
Responsible for the procurement category and sourcing management of one or more assigned categories.
Lead cross‑functional partners to select suppliers, negotiate contracts, and manage supplier performance and relationships.
Collaborate and influence business partners to optimize supplier performance, drive make/buy decisions, and implement supply optimization.
Perform data analysis and use financial acumen to identify scale‑leverage opportunities and deliver cost savings.
Leverage global expertise in category and strategic sourcing, technical product knowledge, cost drivers, industry dynamics, and market trends.
Support the development and implementation of global supply strategies to achieve best total value and quality service aligned with business objectives.
Develop and drive continuous improvements in Category and Strategic Sourcing Management processes.
Other essential duties as requested.
Job Qualifications – Required
Bachelor’s degree in business or related discipline; MBA or equivalent preferred.
Minimum 5+ years’ experience managing purchasing categories and/or sourcing.
Experience in the medical device, healthcare or highly regulated industry preferred.
Experience with cost improvement (e.g., should‑cost analysis, global market benchmark), risk mitigation and technology involvement.
Strong sustaining and NPD project and process management, managing cross‑functional teams.
Contract negotiation expertise in critical terms and conditions aligned with category strategy.
Supplier and stakeholder partnership experience; SRM application experience a plus.
Experience leading or participating in global teams with a record of successful sustaining and NPD projects.
Familiarity with manufacturing, quality and supply chain processes.
Travel capability: up to 20% domestically and internationally.
Job Qualifications – Preferred
Strategic mindset and hands‑on approach.
Ability to condense and present complex information in meaningful reports and presentations.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills in a multicultural and global environment.
Results orientation and ability to prioritize quickly.
In-depth knowledge of market conditions for multiple categories.
Good technical understanding.
Knowledge of ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle) and MS Office.
