Our Wholesale Solutions team at AXA XL, poised for growth in the dynamic world of Excess and Surplus lines, offers an innovative environment that has been unlocking the future since 1978. We build new products, serve our wholesale partners with excellence, and expand geographically.
As an Associate Underwriter, you will support the Underwriting team and act as the owner and principal facilitator of assigned accounts. The Associate Underwriter will perform front‑to‑end activities throughout the life cycle of renewal and prospect accounts from submission to expiration with Underwriting oversight. This program will launch in June/July of 2026.
What you’ll be doing What will your essential responsibilities include?
Pre‑underwrites, evaluates risk, and assesses completeness of the underwriting package before an underwriter is required to review; communicates directly with brokers on behalf of the underwriters to collect account and insured information necessary for risk analysis.
Performs and applies knowledge of line‑of‑business specific product underwriting rules and/or guidelines for pre‑analysis support of submission in preparation of further analysis for quoting stage.
Develops initial pricing, basic coverage structuring, quotation, and binder packages of the risk on behalf of the underwriter; calculates base rating and applies experience modifications as part of underwriting package completed by Underwriting Support Unit for underwriter review.
Collaborates effectively with underwriters, brokers, reinsurers, and internal units within AXA XL to manage the status and workflow of multiple tasks and accounts.
Communicates account status to ensure completion of all tasks, including premium collection as part of bound accounts.
Corresponds verbally and in written format with internal and external contacts across the country, keeping in mind differences in time zones, to achieve a high level of service and meet client expectations.

The U.S. base salary range for this position is $66,600 – $105,100 USD. Actual pay will be determined based upon the individual’s skills, experience and location. We strive for market alignment and internal equity with our colleagues’ pay.
