Overview
D&B Engineers and Architects is seeking a Senior Geologist/Hydrogeologist to support our team in Woodbury, NY. The candidate must be a Professional Geologists (PG) licensed to practice in the State of New York and will primarily be responsible for supporting initiatives related to a portfolio of projects for both public and private sector clients involving site assessments, soil and groundwater delineation, remediation and site monitoring within a broad geographical area. The successful candidate will also support office growth with respect to existing and prospective clients.

Responsibilities
Direct medium to large scale complex projects to ensure internal and external expectations are met for scope, budget, schedule and quality.
Review Sampling and Analysis Plans (SAPs) and Quality Assurance Project Plans (QAPPs) to ensure logical and efficient sampling is conducted for site characterization.
Direct and implement soil, groundwater, sediment, air, and soil vapor sample collection.
Interpret engineering, geological, hydrogeological, and chemical data from contaminated sites to evaluate and design/optimize multi-media remediation systems, including developing strategy, rationale and cost estimates.
Write and review technical documents, reports and engineering designs including Phase I Environmental Site Assessments (ESAs) and Phase II Environmental Site Investigations (ESIs), cleanup alternatives analyses, remediation plans and work plans.
Prepare Technical Reports; remediation alternative analyses, as well as design and bid documents.
Participate in client and community outreach meetings and presentations.
Participate in developing new business, scope projects, and prepare proposals and SOQs.
Provide mentorship and leadership to junior team members.
Collaborate and communicate effectively with multiple clients and internal stakeholders.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Geology, Hydrogeology, Environmental Engineering or other closely related fields.
Minimum 10 – 15 years of experience.
Proven project manager with ability to manage multiple projects and subcontractors on time and on budget.
Familiarity with soil boring and monitoring well installations.
Thorough understanding of soil/groundwater/soil vapor sample sampling techniques and analytical methods.
Experience with the calibration and operation of various field sampling equipment (i.e., Water Quality Meters, PIDs, Multi-Gas Meters).
Familiarity with perfluoroalkyl and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) sampling procedures is a plus.
Proficiency in geological mapping, data analysis, field investigation, GISsoftware, modeling tools, and data management systems is expected.
Working knowledge of federal and state environmental regulations and industry standards.
Brownfields, CERCLA, RCRA Corrective Action and/or state VCP experience.
Excellent writing and communication skills and possess a flexible and cooperative attitude.
Ability to prioritize, perform, and communicate effectively in a fast-paced environment.
40-hour HAZWOPER Certified.
Preferred Experience
Prior consulting experience, with a background in hazardous/solid waste.
Extensive working knowledge of NYSDEC assessment, investigation, remedial programs.
Knowledgeable in current and emerging remedial technologies with per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) experience.
Experience with remedial projects utilizing state and federal funding mechanisms.
Licenses NYS Professional Geologist (PG) License Required.
Schedule Monday through Friday
Salary Range $90,000 – $140,000
