Under the direction of the System Medical Director of Infection Prevention and Control, this role involves developing, implementing, and overseeing the Infection Prevention and Control (IPC) and Antimicrobial Stewardship Program (ASP) policies and procedures, in collaboration with healthcare leadership and stakeholders. The Medical Director is responsible for quality, safety, regulatory compliance, and performance excellence. Roles and Responsibilities
Serve as the Associate Medical Director for Infection Prevention and Antimicrobial Stewardship at Henry Ford Health. Improve and reduce hospital-acquired infection (HAI) rates. Provide expertise in IPC, healthcare epidemiology, and antimicrobial stewardship. Optimize diagnostic testing and antimicrobial use, and implement process improvements. Develop and enforce IPC and ASP policies, especially related to multi-drug resistant organisms, outbreak response, and pathogens. Interpret epidemiologic and antimicrobial use data; enhance data infrastructure and reporting in compliance with NHSN, CMS, and other metrics. Coordinate multidisciplinary initiatives, participate in committees, and mentor staff. Skills and Competencies
Leadership in IPC and ASP initiatives. Team management and mentorship skills. Proficiency with metrics and data management. Knowledge of quality improvement methods. Strong communication skills, both written and verbal. Experience with databases, clinical systems, and epidemiologic analysis, including NHSN data submission. Qualifications
M.D. or equivalent from an LCME-accredited medical school. Completion of Internal Medicine residency and Infectious Diseases fellowship (ACGME-accredited). Eligibility for Michigan medical licensure. Board certification in Internal Medicine and Infectious Disease. Leadership and clinical mentoring experience. At least 2 years of experience in ASP and/or IPC. Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills. Ability to manage projects and foster collaboration across disciplines. Additional Details
