ZSFG Clinical Laboratory - Core Laboratory Full Time 85064BR Job Summary The Core Lab Manager provides daily operational management support for the Clinical Laboratory in assigned areas. Manages productivity, technical performance of specimen processing and laboratory testing and efficient operations of equipment. They collaborate and coordinate with the various divisions of the Laboratory, other ZSFG departments, affiliated hospitals, health centers, clinics and out-reach clients. Important job functions include assuring optimal quality, safety and efficiency in all functions supervised and compliance with regulatory requirements. It is expected that all duties are performed in a manner that denotes the team concept and reflects UCSF and ZSFG missions, visions and values.

Your placement within the salary range is dependent on a number of factors including your work experience and internal equity within this position classification at UCSF. For positions that are represented by a labor union, placement within the salary range will be guided by the rules in the collective bargaining agreement. The salary range for this position is $190,200 - $285,200 (Annual Rate). Required Qualifications 6+ years directly relevant experience and 5+ years of lead/supervisor/manager experience in all core lab areas specifically Clinical Chemistry, Hematology, Coagulation, Body Fluids and Urinalysis Bachelor's Degree in a Chemical Science, Biological Science Clinical Lab Science, Medical Lab Science or Medical Technology from an accredited institution Substantial and comprehensive knowledge and experience in chemistry, hematology, coagulation, urinalysis instrumentation, and microscopy Recent participation in clinical laboratory inspection Extensive knowledge and expertise in clinical laboratory test/system validations, data management, and quality assurance required by accrediting agencies, federal and state regulations Possesses subject matter expertise with clinical laboratory accreditation standards and with practical methods for achieving and maintaining regulatory compliance Documented knowledge and experience in successful project management and financial stewardship Possess computer skills to adequately perform the position's responsibilities, including but not limited to proficiency in using Microsoft Word and Excel Possess excellent skills in interpersonal communication, customer service, and conflict management Able to compile and critically analyze information relevant to the responsibilities of the position and effectively communicate findings both verbally and in written reports Able to write clear and understandable technical procedures Able to effectively facilitate the implementation of process changes in a complex environment Able to work and lead independently under pressure; recognize and resolve problems while maintaining a high level of organization Able to effectively teach, coach, assess competency, and provide high-quality feed-back for staff and students Extensive experience in talent acquisition, staff development, and performance management Able to effectively manage change in a complex environment and conflict in the workplace Experience managing personnel in a collective bargaining environment Able to effectively lead and supervise a diverse group of clinical laboratory personnel Proficiency with using Laboratory Information Systems (LIS), Hospital Information Systems (HIS) and Middleware Preferred Qualifications Master's in Science, Health Administration, Public Health or MBA Documented experience in project collaborations with different laboratory/hospital departments Experience with using electronic document management software Experience with handling laboratory automation lines Familiarity with the compliance requirements and management of laboratory-developed tests Excellent work ethic License/Certification Possession of a California Clinical Laboratory Scientist License issued by the State Department of Health About UCSF The University of California, San Francisco (UCSF) is a leading university dedicated to promoting health worldwide through advanced biomedical research, graduate-level education in the life sciences and health professions, and excellence in patient care.
