Street SupervisorSUPERVISORY WORK: None SUMMARYUnder direct supervision, this position operates street sweepers and may operate a front-end loader mounted on a 6 cu. yd. dump trucks, in performing skilled and semi-skilled work; on occasion operates other trucks, 2 ½ ton to 52,000 GVW, and other equipment as required; services equipment; and may, on occasion, be required to perform manual unskilled labor.
Rarely is responsible for the supervision of other employees. ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES•
Sweeps paved alleys and curbed residential or other assigned streets within the city, hauling accumulated debris to designated disposal sites using loader truck.•
Checks tires, oil, water, lights, fuel, etc., of sweeper and loader truck.•
Washes sweeper at end of each shift and blows out air filters.•
Turns sweeper, and loader truck into shop for repairs, as needed.•
Greases truck-mounted front-end loader or sweeper each day. •
Cleans mud and debris from wash bay each day.•
Changes pick-up broom, gutter broom, dirt reflector, dirt shoe, etc., on sweepers.•
Builds gutter brooms and pick-up brooms when necessary.•
Completes daily job reports.•
Performs manual work when necessary to assist in the performance of various tasks.•
Operate truck-mounted snowplow, salt spinner, or chemical de-icing truck during winter emergencies.•
Operates truck up to 52,000 GVW for various hauling purposes when necessary.•
Operates front-end loader truck.•
Operates equipment in other comparable pay categories or is willing to train as needed.•
Performs other job-related duties as assigned.•
Responds to after-hours emergency call outs as needed.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTSMinimum of eighth (8th) grade education with one (1) year experience in operating light and medium equipment and trucks required.
High school education and a minimum of one (1) year experience operating sweeper preferred. Requires a High School Diploma or equivalent and a minimum of two years of experience in the operation of light and medium construction equipment and trucks, including one year of experience on a sweeper. Valid Texas Class "A" CDL Driver’s License, with Tanker "N" endorsement, is required. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES•
Must have good working knowledge of street sweepers and loader trucks.
Must have good working knowledge of other equipment such as front-end loaders, tandem trucks, or similar equipment. •
Must have working knowledge of all hand tools, both manual and power driven.•
Ability to effectively communicate with co-workers and citizens.•
