Job Responsibilities:
Perform maintenance and sustainment of existing networks, including identification and correction of issues.
Resolve routine network problems using network analyzers, WAN test equipment, and network simulators.
Monitor data or voice system networks for messages, alarms, or issues; activate scripts as alarms occur; confirm message accuracy; determine severity; initiate resolution.
Troubleshoot problems using scripts and standard procedures; escalate issues when necessary; research issues for predefined resolution options.
Document problem resolution; communicate alarms and actions taken to relevant parties.
Execute scheduled maintenance routines; identify and resolve issues; escalate when needed.
Activate/deactivate network lines per schedule.
Perform first- and second-level problem determination (help desk level).
Interface with users and network vendors as needed.
Follow detailed work instructions accurately.
Qualifications:
Two (2) years of experience in programs of similar scope, type, and complexity.
Associate's degree in engineering technology or equivalent experience; two (2) additional years of network engineering experience may substitute for the degree.
Experience with installation and configuration of network devices such as firewalls, switches, routers, and cabling (Cisco, Brocade, Juniper).
Experience supporting WAN technologies (e.g., SONET, DS3, T1).
Experience with Taclanes/KG-175, MPLS, BGP, VPNs.
IAT Level II baseline certification as per DoD 8570.01-M.
Must have TS/SCI polygraph clearance.
Desired certifications: CompTIA Network+, CCENT, CCNA, CCNP, CCIE, or equivalent.
