Senior Quality Manager – Aurora Flight Sciences
Position Overview
At
Aurora Flight Sciences , a Boeing Company, we design, build, and fly advanced aircraft and enabling technologies from concept to reality. We are seeking a self‑motivated, experienced quality leader to manage the Quality Management System for our Mississippi manufacturing site and help shape the future of flight.
Responsibilities
Ownership of the Quality Management System (QMS) for the Aurora Mississippi site.
Plan and implement activities related to developing, applying, and maintaining quality standards for manufacturing processes, materials, and products, including establishing clear metrics to drive quality improvements.
Assess the cost of poor quality and continuous improvement initiatives (e.g., scrap costs).
Manage the quality function at AMS using data and analytics to develop winning strategies.
Achieve and sustain necessary 3rd‑party process certifications and continuously improve product quality with a proactive focus.
Lead Kaizen events for problem solving.
Manage staff performing multiple functions, including quality inspection, MRB engineering, Quality Program Management, and Quality engineering.
Prepare and present periodic Management Reviews of the Quality Systems to senior management.
Review production work orders to ensure sufficient quality assurance provisions are included.
Communicate effectively with business leaders, program managers, peers, team members, and customers; ensure 100% on‑time delivery of high‑quality performance appraisals.
Support fluctuating business needs (B&P, RFQs, etc.) as necessary.
Develop and initiate standards and methods for inspection, testing, and evaluation, utilizing knowledge in engineering fields such as chemical, electrical, and mechanical.
Design process audit and product inspection procedures and develop forms and instructions for recording, evaluating, and reporting quality and reliability data.
Establish a program to evaluate the precision and accuracy of production equipment, testing, measurement, and analytical equipment and facilities.
Develop and implement procedures for disposition of discrepant material and lead the root‑cause and corrective action process.
Ensure follow‑up and closure of preventive and corrective action requests and verify effectiveness.
Compile and write training material and conduct training sessions on quality assurance and control activities.
Ensure that documentation and design/process controls are appropriate and effective for the organization.
Minimum Requirements
Leadership ability.
15+ years of related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Expert knowledge of ISO 9001:2015, AS9100, or TS16949 requirements and associated QMS administration.
5+ years of direct aviation/aerospace manufacturing experience.
Ability to analyze and understand all aspects of the operation and use motivational skills to drive improvement; attention to detail required.
Expert knowledge of Statistical Process Control, Quality Improvement Models, Problem Identification Techniques, Quality Improvement Tools, Group Problem Solving Techniques and awareness of internal and external customers.
Must possess oral presentation, written communication, group facilitation, conflict management, and training skills.
Must have experience managing ISO 9001:2015, AS9100, or TS16949 auditing systems and developing improvement plans.
Required experience in MRB, CAPA, APQP, GD&T, DOE, SPC, PPAP/FAI, PFMEA, 8D/7D, Process Flow, and/or Control Plans.
Proficiency with Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Project, and Access.
Preferred Requirements
ASQ CQA, CQE or CQM certifications.
Lean/Six Sigma certifications.
AS9102 First Article Inspection process.
Minitab or equivalent statistical analysis tools experience.
Composite aircraft manufacturing experience.
SAP S4Hana experience.
ISO/AS Auditor Certification.
Physical Requirements
Ability to work in a manufacturing environment, wear proper PPE, and follow Boeing regulations for lifting.
Work onsite in Columbus, MS.
Salary Range (Annualized USD)
Minimum Range: $103,000.00 – $184,000.00
