is a family business with 120 years of experience, 1,900 employees across eight plants in Canada and the United States. We are seeking a Maintenance Manager to ensure machine uptime and overall plant productivity.
Position Summary Reporting directly to the Plant Manager / Plant Engineer, the Maintenance Manager plans and directs all maintenance activities to ensure a safe, secure, efficient, and cost‑effective operation. The role leads a team of maintenance technicians, collaborates with engineering resources, and provides leadership and technical guidance to maximize machine uptime.
Responsibilities
Manage and direct the maintenance department to achieve business objectives.
Promote a positive and safe work environment through teamwork and employee engagement.
Analyze downtime, identify causes, and recommend action plans for improvement.
Collaborate and lead the local predictive and preventive maintenance plan.
Prepare departmental budget and ensure close follow‑up.
Review budgets for current and upcoming projects, scheduling forecasts to keep projects on time and on budget.
Identify and prioritize major maintenance issues with production and develop action plans to resolve them for maximum productivity.
Oversee maintenance activities and program implementation to ensure compliance with all health and safety standards.
Provide daily support to the maintenance team and act as a technical resource.
Implement and manage routine systems for technical problem solving and accountability.
Collaborate and communicate with other plant management team members on key technical and performance issues.
Pursue improvement opportunities and support capital improvements with technical input.
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Industrial, or a related Engineering field, or equivalent work experience.
8+ years of relevant technical and management experience, preferably in a food manufacturing or fast‑paced environment.
Knowledge of GFSI/BRC, SQF, GMP, HACCP, or other food safety standards is preferred.
Demonstrated leadership skills and decision‑making ability under pressure.
Strong oral and written communication skills, excellent judgment, ethics, and integrity.
Excellent people skills, positive attitude, and ability to motivate and mentor staff.
Adaptability to operational changes and fast‑paced, challenging environments.
Efficient handling of multiple priorities.
Familiarity with SAP or other ERP systems.
Experience with Microsoft Office and other computer‑based applications.
AutoCAD experience is a plus.
Strong knowledge of mechanics, pneumatics, hydraulics, instrumentation, and control.
Excellent manual dexterity and physical endurance; ability to stand for long periods.
Flexible work hours with willingness to work weekends when needed.

Ability to lift from floor to waist 52 lbs (33% of the time).
Ability to lift from waist to shoulder 52 lbs (33% of the time).
