Pay range per hour is $21.00 - $35.70. Pay is based on several factors that vary by position, including labor markets and may include education, work experience, and certifications. All About General Merchandise Experts of operations, process and efficiency enable a consistent experience for our guests by ensuring product is merchandised and available, accurately priced, and signed on the sales floor. The General Merchandise and Food Sales teams lead inbound, outbound, replenishment, and promotional signing processes across all GM areas. This team also provides food & beverage services, ensuring a fresh and food‑safe experience.

Skills

Guest service fundamentals and building a guest‑first culture.

Retail business fundamentals including sales trends, inventory management, guest shopping patterns, pricing and promotion strategies.

Planning daily/weekly workloads to support business priorities and deliver sales goals.

Leading a team of hourly team members with skills in interviewing, developing, coaching, evaluating, and retaining talent.

Responsibilities

Understand sales goals and execute daily/weekly workload to deliver on department and store sales goals and guest engagement.

Lead and share expertise in operations, accuracy, and efficiency.

With guidance from your direct leader, establish clear goals and expectations and hold team members accountable.

Utilize workload planning tools to complete all scheduled workload ensuring areas are guest ready at store open.

Assign daily tasks to team members based on planned workload and guest traffic patterns.

Work a schedule that aligns to guest and business needs, including early morning, evening, overnight shifts and weekends.

Assess GM backroom, sales floor areas and review reporting to identify gaps and develop resolution plans.

Ensure product is available for purchase and maintain a consistent guest experience.

Assist direct leader in leading and following up on organizational and operational change.

Build a team of GM experts from selection through onboarding and ongoing training.

Demonstrate inclusivity and create equitable experiences.

Model a safety culture and enforce safety expectations.

Support merchandise protection strategies and model physical security processes.

Handle safe and secure procedures where applicable.

Respond to store and offsite emergency and compliance needs.

Support guest services such as back‑up cashier, order pick up (OPU) and Drive up (DU). Maintain compliance with adult beverage laws.

Offer a welcoming experience by greeting guests and solving their specific needs.

Lead by thanking guests and expressing appreciation for choosing Target.

All other duties based on business needs.

Requirements

High school degree or equivalent.

Age 18 or older.

Previous retail experience preferred, but not required.

Ability to lead and hold others accountable.

Ability to learn and adapt to current technology needs.

Work independently and as part of a team.

Manage workload and prioritize tasks independently.

Remain focused and composed in a fast‑paced environment.

Welcoming and helpful attitude toward all guests and team members.

Effective communication skills.

About

Access all areas of the building to respond to guest or team member issues.

Interpret instructions, reports, and information.

Accurately handle cash register operations as needed.

Climb ladders as needed.

Scan, handle, and move merchandise efficiently and safely; frequently lift up to 44 pounds.

Maintain a flexible work schedule with reliable and prompt attendance.

Work in varying temperatures, humidity, and other elements while performing job duties.

Remain mobile for the duration of a scheduled shift.
