Sr. Accountant-GL
to support our Finance department. Position Summary:
The
Sr. Accountant-GL
performs daily journal entries for the SOME general ledger and coordinates the balance sheet with corresponding reconciliations. Provides monthly and quarterly financial reporting. Schedule:
Monday - Friday 8:30am - 5:00pm. Candidate can work remotely but must reside in the DC/Maryland/Virginia area and work in the office when required. The Finance office is located on Benning Road in NE Washington, DC. Required:
Bachelor's Degree plus 5-8 years accounting experience. Key Responsibilities: Post transactions to the general ledger Perform monthly balance sheet reconciliations as assigned and ensure coding and balances are correct Ensure data entry by staff is accurate Maintain GL records and spreadsheets relating to GL and updating information as needed Complete assigned bank reconciliations Communicate with departments to confirm coding on submissions Create, maintain, and utilize Great Plains for reports pertaining to GL. Reconciliation of all GL accounts as assigned. Ensure general ledger is accurate and postings have no errors Quarterly Reporting and Capitalization for Major Improvements Assists in Annual Year End Audit with preparing and reviewing schedules Annual filing of Unclaimed Property for all entities Review the cleared account (for all 13 entities) to verify that it balances to zero Knowledge/Skills/Abilities: Leadership, problem solving and troubleshooting skills Knowledge of Great Plains software Organizational skills with an attention to detail Excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to collaborate with others Analytical ability Ability to work independently Able to multi-task and be productive despite competing priorities Reports to:
