Description $25,000.00 Sign-On Bonus
The Operating Room Nurse provides patient care in a surgical setting according to applicable standards, policies, and organizational values. Monitors and manages the patient and operative environment during surgery to ensure safety, optimize outcomes, and utilize resources effectively.
All nursing practice aligns with legal scope, national and specialty standards, organizational policies, and applicable laws. RNs are responsible and accountable for their practice, serving as independent practitioners and resource persons within the community. They provide comprehensive care to diverse patients, collaborating with the healthcare team, conducting quick assessments, handling emergencies, and engaging in evidence-based practice.
Qualifications Minimum Education : Associate's Degree from an approved nursing school (Required); Bachelor's Degree BSN (Preferred)
Minimum Work Experience : At least 2 years of OR experience, including two of the following specialties: Neurosurgery, Orthopedics, Spine, General Surgery, Colorectal, ENT, Robotic Surgery, Kidney Transplant. Pediatric OR experience is preferred.
Skills/Knowledge : Proficiency in multiple surgical services, computer skills, adaptability, partnership building, effective communication, cultural sensitivity, decision-making, relationship management, and time management.
Certifications Registered Nurse license in DC, Maryland, or Virginia; BLS; CNOR (Preferred).
Functional Accountabilities
Coordinate intraoperative care with the healthcare team.
Serve as communication liaison.
Prepare the OR, assemble equipment, and ensure functionality.
Deliver culturally sensitive, evidence-based perioperative care.
Use outcome data for care decisions and participate in quality improvement.
Guide and oversee new staff and ensure documentation standards.
Participate in quality initiatives and document in EMR.
Work within scope and delegate appropriately.
Follow safety protocols, including Universal Protocol, instrument counts, medication verification, and emergency procedures.
Communicate effectively, promote safety, and demonstrate accountability.
Engage in continuous learning, mentorship, and process improvements.
Lead change initiatives and model professional behavior.
Maintain regulatory compliance and participate in professional activities.
Provide exemplary patient care, prioritize effectively, and document accurately.
Contribute to organizational goals through teamwork, communication, and safety practices.

Position: Full-Time, Day shift, Monday-Friday, 11a-9:30p with call
