SCB is seeking a
Senior Accountant
to manage the firm’s financial reporting process. Reporting directly to the Director of Finance, this role involves working with a team to record, monitor and maintain SCB’s day-to-day financial activity and operations in accordance with established accounting principles, policies and objectives. As our Senior Accountant, you’ll play a crucial role in ensuring our financial operations run smoothly and strategically. This is an
on-site position
based in downtown Chicago, with the expectation of working in the office
four days per week —ideal for professionals who value both flexibility and connection. Your responsibilities will include: Driving the
month-end and year-end close process
to deliver timely, accurate financial results. Preparing and analyzing the
monthly financial statement package
and
income statement variance reports
to provide actionable insights. Managing
monthly account reconciliations
and
general ledger maintenance
with precision and care. Assisting in the development of SCB’s
Annual Budget
and supporting the
annual 401k audit
with essential schedules. Leading the preparation of
state and local tax filings , including Illinois Sales and Use Tax. Designing and refining
business processes and accounting policies
to strengthen internal controls and ensure compliance with US GAAP. Identifying opportunities to enhance
profitability and reporting efficiency , sharing innovative solutions with the team. Tackling special projects and preparing ad hoc reports to support our Director of Finance. What You’ll Bring
We’re seeking a detail-oriented, analytical thinker who’s a true team player. Here’s what you need to succeed in this role: Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance
(required). At least
5+ years of relevant experience
(preferred). Experience with
Deltek Vision or Vantagepoint software
(preferred). Proficiency in
US GAAP
and strong knowledge of general ledger, payroll, and financial analysis functions. Advanced MS Word and Excel
skills—think pivot tables, VLOOKUPs, and beyond! Proven problem-solving skills, persistence, and a knack for identifying innovative solutions. Outstanding collaboration and communication abilities to thrive in a team-oriented environment.
