Senior University Director of Finance and Business Affairs, Office of Enrollment Management
The City University of New York (CUNY), the nation’s largest urban public university system, is seeking an experienced Senior University Director of Finance and Business Affairs to join its leadership team at the CUNY Central Office.
This newly created, critical, and collaborative role will holistically lead the fiscal strategy for Enrollment Management (EM), overseeing a $90M portfolio and ensuring the effective allocation of fiscal resources to promote EM’s strategic priorities.
Reporting to the Vice Chancellor for Enrollment Management, the Senior University Director will work closely with the Senior University Dean of Enrollment Management and other EM leaders to advance an integrated, strategic financial planning process that enhances data‑driven decision‑making and operational efficiency.
Key duties include, but are not limited to, the following:
Lead fiscal planning, budgeting, and resource management efforts to support EM’s strategic priorities.
Advise EM executive leadership on complex, multi‑fund budgets, forecast future needs, and recommend strategies to enhance efficiency.
Develop and manage multi‑year financial plans and annual budgets for review and approval by the Vice Chancellor for Enrollment Management.
Drive data collection and analysis to continuously improve fiscal data quality and support strategic decision‑making.
Design and develop standardized financial reports, automated dashboards, and metrics for ongoing monitoring of EM resource allocations.
Oversee grants management activities within EM, including the Money Smart Financial Coaching Program (MSFCP).
Supervise a team of six professional staff responsible for budgeting, procurement, grants, contracts, and related activities.
Support execution of special projects and represent CUNY at city, state, and external meetings or councils as assigned.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Preferred Work Arrangement:
Hybrid work schedule, until further notice.
Qualifications
Minimum:
Bachelor’s degree and eight years of related experience.
Preferred:
Minimum five years of progressive experience in budgeting, financial planning, resource management, and/or data analysis, preferably in higher education or public sector.
Advanced degree in a related field.
Ability to manage and interpret large datasets, run reports, and synthesize information from multiple sources.
Knowledge of financial regulations and policies such as CUNY, NYS, and NYC financial, accounting, and budget policies.
Proficiency with PeopleSoft accounting modules and related financial technologies.
Exceptional attention to detail, strong organizational and time‑management skills.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively across all levels of the University.
Strong analytical, project‑management, critical‑thinking, and problem‑solving skills.
Familiarity with enrollment operations in higher education is highly desirable.
Experience collaborating with campus stakeholders including enrollment management, academic affairs, student affairs, budget and finance, and student success units.
Demonstrated leadership experience, including supervision of professional staff.

Compensation and Benefits
Base Salary: $145,671 – $155,388 per year (commensurate with credentials, education, and experience). Salaries of eligible employees will be adjusted by 3.5% effective 9/1/26, per the PSC‑CUNY collective bargaining agreement.
