As Senior Mechanical Engineer, you will develop innovative and complex hardware systems for our emerging robotic solutions, and improve existing hardware to optimize performance and enhance customer experience. The ideal candidate has demonstrated experience designing and troubleshooting custom robotics systems from the ground up. They enjoy analytical problem solving and possess practical knowledge of robotic design, fabrication, assembly and rapid prototyping. They thrive in an inter‑disciplinary environment and have led the development of complex electro‑mechanical systems.
Key Job Responsibilities
Work with an interdisciplinary team to execute product designs from concept to production including specification, design, prototyping, validation and testing
Owner of the detailed design and performance of a robotics design
Work with the Operations, Manufacturing, Supply Chain and Quality organizations as well as vendors to ensure a smooth product launch
Write functional specifications, design verification plans, and functional test procedures
Exhibit role‑model behaviors of mechanical engineering best practices, thorough and predictive engineering analysis and cradle‑to‑grave ownership
Design and adaptation of holistic hardware solutions for ambiguous problems with fluid requirements

Basic Qualifications
Experience in developing functional specifications, design verification plans and functional test procedures
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering
Knowledge of SolidWorks or similar CAD experience and understanding of best practices for part design, and advanced assemblies
Experience in prototyping
Experience collaborating and influencing multiple teams across multiple organizations
Experience writing technical documents, project plans and progress reports to leadership and to stakeholders
Experience working in an Agile environment
Experience with feature delivery and tradeoffs of a product
Experience leading the mechanical detailed design of electro‑mechanical systems
Thorough understanding and use of principals, theories and concepts in mechanical engineering and ability to apply them to product design
Experience with full lifecycle development
Preferred Qualifications
Master's degree in electrical engineering, computer engineering, or equivalent
Experience working with interdisciplinary teams to execute product design from concept to production
Experience with the project management of technical projects
Experience in the design of complex mechanical products and equipment at volume
Experience designing and launching new products from the ground up
Knowledge of SolidWorks simulation or Ansys Finite Element analysis tools
Demonstrated experience collaborating with Electrical and Controls engineers
Proficiency documenting designs in accordance with ANSI Y-14.5
Experience designing and debugging tooled (sheetmetal, cast, injection molded, etc) components
Proficiency with Product Lifecycle Management PLM software and ECO’s

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $128,600/year in our lowest geographic market up to $213,600/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job‑related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
