Position Summary This position has a target start date in summer 2026. It offers the opportunity to directly apply your knowledge of materials, structural analysis, structural steel design, and reinforced concrete design while working on a wide range of power, energy, and industrial projects. The role includes calculating structural documents, preparing technical specifications, conducting complex loading analyses (wind, seismic, pressurization), and using state‑of‑the‑art computer tools for steel, concrete, piping, and foundation design. Travel to client and vendor offices and plant sites may be required for design reviews and field verification. The position follows a hybrid schedule requiring in‑office work three days a week.
Responsibilities
Apply knowledge of materials, structural analysis, steel and reinforced concrete design.
Prepare calculations, structural document designs, technical specifications, and conduct analyses including wind, seismic, and pressurization.
Perform structural analysis and design of steel frames, connections, concrete members, equipment and piping supports, and foundations using state‑of‑the‑art tools.
Travel to client and vendor offices for design reviews and to plant sites for structural condition assessments, construction coordination, and field verification.
Qualifications
BS or MS in Civil Engineering from an ABET‑approved program, graduating in spring 2026, with a strong academic background in materials, structural analysis, steel, and concrete design.
Related engineering internship or co‑op experience.
Knowledge of practical structural engineering, load analysis, and design integrity.
Knowledge of design techniques, tools, and principles for technical plans, blueprints, drawings, and models.
Proficiency with MS Office applications.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
Successful completion of the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam and designation as Engineer in Training.
Experience writing and supporting structural engineering calculations.
Two or more years of related experience in steel and concrete design for power plants or heavy industrial facilities.
Proficiency with MathCad, STAAD PRO, SAP2000, SAFE, STRUDL, or ANSYS.
Familiarity with IBC, ASCE 7, AISC, and ACI 318 codes and standards.

Compensation $60,660.00 – $87,090.00
